Screen Names; And what DO they mean?

katralla
Being new here at LoS and not knowing much about everyone I thought maybe there could be a way for everyone to reintroduce themselves. Not like at birth your name is chosen for you without your say; your screen name is something that you choose for you yourself for your own reasons. And these names we choose for ourselves can shine a light on who we are and what moves and inspires us.

So my screen name and some of the persona is inspired by a character on Farscape. {Don’t get me wrong I do love John Crichton and Aeryn Sun together.} The overall story of Princess Katralla and John seemes to really inspire my thought as to how I would wright a similar story differently. Furthermore he was so gallant and chivalrous in the way he tried to help Princess Katralla save her ascension to the throne. He was So Three Musketeerish and I have always had a soft spot for such Machiavellian stories. And in the strange and weird universe that John Crichton finds himself in she was one of the nice people he met up with in his journey.

There are other things ~ like my real name has three syllables and ends in an “a” - just feels like it fits better.

The shyness that sometimes comes out is a fictional characterization of my own making and reality at the same time.

So here I challenge those who are listening to come and tell us what your name means and why you picked it.

Mysterious Fayth
............................................

Well, I suppose I could tell you the meaning behind the Lord's name, but then it wouldn't be very mysterious would it? I have to leave it to your imagination, you could ask other people, but there is noone on this forum who could tell you the whole reason behind it :P

Fayth! Are you hiding things from me?? :o
:P

My screen name is, as Gaius already stated in the Randomness topic, the Swahili word for friend. It comes from a major obsession I had with the Lion King some years back, and it has stuck with me since ^^ wow.. it's been 8 years now since I started to use it

Kawaii Trisha
Fayth: Well you're no fun XD

Mtani: Awww that's cute^^

And mine is from two places: "kawaii" came from the site that I RP on (Deathly Hallows). Just ask Fayth

And the "Trisha" came from a person that I do know in real life, and she is a regular spitfire. So, to make it a bit more personal by putting a name in there rather than your average screen name, I put the two together as "Kawaii Trisha".

Yeah I know. Real creative, huh?

Tagidi Riva
Well the Riva part is my actual name. The " Tagidi" part is conjugated hebrew for Tagid li which means "tell me". It is usually used in refernce to a story. When I was younger I used to babysit for a little Israeli boy. He used to make me tell him original stories when he was going to bed. He would bounce on his bed begging " Tagidi Riva, Bevakasha(Please)" so that is how I got the nickname.

I actually started using it on MNFFand liked it so much I used it here.

strawberry
If you already know me well, then you'll know where my forum name came from.

My original online name was Ichigo (or sometimes Ichigo-Chan) named after the heroine from Tokyo Mew Mew. At that time I really loved Ichigo and her style in terms of hair and dress sense because her style was kind of like the 12 year old version of me as I use to always tie my hair in pig tails and wear alot of girly dresses. I have been using that name for more then 2 years until the Amines Tokyo Mew Mew and BLEACH came popular and widely known and all of a sudden loads of people used Ichigo as part of their forum name, so I have changed my name to Strawberry (Just incase you didn't know, Ichigo is the Japanese word for Strawberry) I mean I don't know many people using Strawberry as part of their forum name.

Tsuchinoko
I'm liking this thread, it's quite interesting ^_^

I've explained this in a couple of other forums before, but for those who don't already know my username is a reference to the gaming series Metal Gear Solid, of which I am a big, big fan :D :D :D

A Tsuchinoko is a mythical type of Japanese snake and is known as a UMA ( Unidentified Mysterious Animal ) or cryptid. That means no-one has been able to prove for sure whether or not the creature actually exists. So I guess you could think of it as a Japanese equivalent to Bigfoot.

Anyway it appears in '' Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater '' where you can capture it and keep it until the end of the game to unlock a special item. Trying to capture it was very memorable for me because I literally combed the whole area it was hiding in with every possible piece of equippment I had. I even spent ages wiping out all the animals in the area just to find it but it still didn't show up ¬_¬

So after aaaages of it giving me the run-around I had to give in to looking up the solution online, where I found out it doesn't appear physically in the game at all ( well, not until much later after you've already caught one in the first place ). Yeah, I had to set a mouse-trap for it which means it just appears as an item box with the name '' Tsuchinoko '' hovering over it. * smacks self in head *

So it's my little tribute to the pesky Tsuchinoko for giving me the run-around.
Plus I thought it was also suitable because it's a Japanese term, which I thought would be nice to have since I'd be using it on anime and manga forums. So far I haven't seen anyone else using it ( apart from on YouTube - it said that the name was already taken when I signed up ) so I think it's pretty unique.

Oh... and also in the game I'm edible!

Oh! I would never even conceive of expecting you, the Lord of Darkness, to reveal the unknown to us common folk.

FinalDream45
I agree! interesting decision on the names!

Mine is quite simple..I created the name when I started to join Final Fantasy forums and that is where the 'Final' part came from! Then, I got the Dream part from the simple fact I beleive nobody should ever stop dreaming! I constantly dream of the things i could do and want to achieve! Also, I notive it ties into the FF games in which each character has a dream which they try to accomplish! The 45? yea I have no clue haha

On t he otehr sites I used Saigo_Yume which is the japanese words for each word!
