So the Japanese have got their mitts on these games (lucky bums), so I figured we could have a topic here to discuss our thoughts. One interesting topic is the starter combination people will pick, since you can get not one, not two, but THREE starters! Kanto and Hoenn starters are available - but to avoid spoilers for those who don't want to know, I'll say no more. Personally, I'll start with Totodile, since it's the best Johto starter. Great stats, great movepool that works with the stats, and the fact we're once again cursed with three water type HMs pretty much neccessitates two water types in the party anyway for someone such as myself, who prefers not to use HM Slaves, instead giving his party the HM moves, especially better ones such as Surf and Waterfall. For those of you wondering, Whirlpool is once again an HM, marking the first time an HM has changed in a generation - and in a shock twist, it's become HM05! Whilst some former TMs regained that status in DPP, Whirlpool is the first former HM to regain this status under a different number. I don't know if Defog will even be a field move at all in these games, but there are now NO HMs that deal no damage whatsoever. Rock Smash and Rock Climb are also integrated, btw. Anywho, from Kanto it's got to be Charizard, of course, no question. Then from Hoenn I'd go for Treecko, since none of those three are the most appealling Pokémon, and it'd give me one of each type. Poor Sceptile...it'd be so great if its attack stats were swapped...but that's another story. We interrupt this topic to bring you an urgent spoiler tag! Spoiler: click to toggle Anywho, with all the sprites available, I was hoping somebody could whip something up for me that would be truly magnificent to see in the game... Could someone make me an opening screenshot of a double battle between Gold & Silver and Red & Green/Blue (Serebii is referring to him as Green, and to match LeafGreen it's possible this will be his English name). The job's already half done, you could take the bottom half of the opening shot of Gold & Silver against Lance & Clair for their part, then just get the other two. Also, another spoiler tag required, but don't worry if you clicked the first one, this is related to the same matter. Spoiler: click to toggle All the sprites are on the Internet for this, so if someone's able to make it for me I'd really appreciate it! EDIT: MAJOR spoilers!! Spoiler: click to toggle So yeah. Pretty huge stuff. Edited by Psyduck Ranger, Sep 12 2009, 11:39 PM.

Well, I'm going for HeartGold and I will choose Totodile, mostly because it's so cute and turns into a cool Feraligatr. :) |

Hey, just realised...it's almost certainly just a coincidence, but Unbeatable (the season eight theme song) has a section, at least in the movie length version, as follows; "There's a feeling deep inside me, and it's always there to guide me. It's in my heart and in my soul, leading me to the ultimate goal." Pretty nice, I thought...heh... |

My review on the game: 10/10 Why 10/10? They combined GSC into the two games. The graphics are perfect. The gym leaders are tough, but they are easy if you pick the right type. For example, in the game if you beat Clair, you go to the Dragon's Den and answer those three questions like in Crystal, it was never like that at all if you played the game. Overall, get the game because it's worth it. Also, you get to capture: Ho-Oh Lugia Entei Raikou Suicune Moltres Articuno Zapdos Mewtwo and the rest by event. |

You forgot; Kyogre is in HeartGold, Groudon in SoulSilver, and if you trade them into the same game, Rayquaza appears! It's just funny that you can only get one of them and not the other, but the mascots are not version exclusive. |

Well I have booked HG since last month, so I am excited to get the game when it comes out. And I will get an Arceus statue with my HG because I booked it. :) |

Arceus statue? Weird. If we pre-order one of them, same as America & Japan, we get a figure of the version mascot. Also, on Sunday I'll be going to an event to get an actual Arceus downloaded into my Platinum. My first real event, I'm excited ![]() Speaking of associated freebies, Yankee, tell us about the PokéWalker! |

So looking forward to HG and SS. Although, I don't have a clue which one I'm going to get yet. Might have a look and see what Pokemon are version exclusive before making my choice. ... Blaze, did you honestly say that the gym leaders are easy to beat if you use the right type of Pokemon? Isn't that the same in every other game? Got to agree that the original Gold and Silver were probably the best two games on the original GBC. Bar none. |

Original Gameboy Colour? As opposed to those other, unoriginal gameboy colours? ![]() Heh, I know what you mean, don't worry. But I dunno...Crystal was pretty epic ![]() I'm still not sure either...probably HeartGold, but Silver was my first Pokémon game...I'm very nostalgic and sentimental...but HeartGold is just more appealling... |

Well, I haven't tried the Pokewalker yet. Anyway, I defeated all the Johto Gyms and defeated the Elite Four in 5 days. I am in Kanto in the Vermillion Gym. The gym traps are set again. You know how insane it is to look at each garbage pail to find the switch? Also, once you get 8 badges, you can not go to Route 27 until you capture Ho-Oh or Lugia, depending on the game you have. Oh, and you have to beat the Kimono Girls, who are EXTREMELY tough! |

How can you have not tried it?! It's great for getting rare Pokémon early on...plus, you can basically use it just when you're walking around. Like those old digivice toys, anyone else ever have one of those? Only those were like a tenner each, whereas the Pokéwalker's a fiver (they can say it's free all they like, but it seems unlikely that HGSS would just coincidentally be Ł5 more than previous games). |

You lucky bleeping son of a bleep. We don't get it till tomorrow. Which I intend to do. I think I'm going to get Heart Gold. Just do what I did, Rod. Pick the one that has the most Pokemon on that you're likely to use. I mean, it's hard to pick the one that's better, given that they're both... 99% similar. With the Kimono girls, are there still five of them? Or, has that been moved up to seven? |
