Oh bloody hell, it's not going online is it?

Whatever happened to good old offline gameplay? Am I the only one who misses that? When you didn't have to get fleeced by the games companies who want to make something off the Internet providers, by having you play some moron in Greater Mongolia.

You haven't heard about this? It's not just an excuse for them to make money. In a way it's going to replace the PokéWalker of HGSS, but with so much more. You'll be able to get berries, obviously, along with different Pokémon - and Pokémon from Dream World will have different abilities to normal, such as Vaporeon with Hydration & Glaceon with Ice Body. Based on those two it also looks like it'll be a way for us to get some older Pokémon. You'll also be able to save your game file online, so if anything happens to your cartridge, it's there. This save file might even be transferable to another cartridge (doubtful, but we can hope!). Maybe if we're really lucky we'll even be able to connect with others online (who knows, they're giving us some mission mode which will mean a (fairly limited) multiplayer field mode...).

This is the main gimmick of Munna/Musharna, the "Dream Smoke" that is one of the ways to get online.

EDIT: So, our old friend, the cauliflower monkey, has finally shown up officially and for real, on Pokémon Sunday. It's Yanappu, the Acrobat Pokémon...I quite like its art...despite Grass-types usually failing, I have high hopes...Maybe it'll be more Physical, perhaps have some punching moves...perhaps it or its evolution line will end up like Breloom; made of awesome.

Yayz! The monkey is real! I was really hoping he was. It looks pretty cool. I reckon it'll become either grass/fighting or maybe grass flying, since it can learn acvrobat... though its most likely grass/fighting

It's going to be interesting finding out which of the Pokémon we know are going to be owned by major characters, both in game and in the anime. What do we reckon, could Jessie get Koromori?

What else do we think? Tell you what, before that, what do we reckon the types of the gym leaders (and Elite Four) will be, specifically the two gym leaders we know (Dento and Aloe, the first two)?

Has it already been confirmed that there will be a dark type gym? Because if it hasn't, I think that will be there.

There hasn't been a poison type gym since Gen 1/3/ the games set in Kanto.

Maybe flying, possibly. That might be a possibility.

If it wasn't in Hoenn or Sinnoh, then it might be the case...

How about Dragon. Not been one since Johto.

Or, what about Ground?

They might also do the same old same old and have water, rock, electricity and ghost/psychic.

I dunno...whilst Generation V is breaking a lot of trends, I don't think it'll have a Dark type gym...maybe League member...

I could see Poison though, and Flying.

Dragon's a possibility...another I think is less likely though. Ground, definitely a strong candidate... But I reckon any type that's been in three gyms won't get a look in this generation.

As for Yanappu...I'm think Ash might have it. He always gets the monkeys, I think he'll get this one...certainly either this or Hihidaruma (or it's line), but I think Yanappu is more his style. He's always had the Grass type starter, maybe now he'll get Mijumaru instead.

But at the same time, I have a funny feeling that Dento might train grass type. Although I also get that feeling from Aloe, with her cookery - but maybe as a cook she doesn't use grass types, maybe she uses fire...ooh, it's so tricky! :P

I think Bug might make a comeback...though it featured prominently with Aaron's team...not sure why that's a problem...

It's so tricky :P

Although, by that logic, there was a ground type Elite in Sinnoh.

Well, if she's a cook, it's probably not poison. :eh: That might put you off slightly eating anything that she makes.

Of course, if the gym types that have been in three games might not be used by the gym leaders. But, they could be used as Elite Four members.

Fire has only been used in two gyms, but Flint obviously had it... (More prominently in Platinum, minus a Steelix, Drifblim and Lopunny) so that could be used as a gym.

With Dragon, they might just do what they've done from the start and have an Elite Four member/champion use it. Which I hope they don't do.

I know it's anime rather than games, but AARGH Ash's eyes! Has anyone seen the picture of Ash in Best Wishes? Check Serebii. They've coloured his eyes...it seems they're overhauling the art style with Best Wishes...Joy & Jenny are weird too...

Oh, also, it's been confirmed that Dento will have a Yanappu in Best Wishes. Whilst that doesn't necessarily mean anything (Brock caught a Zubat in his second episode, Dento could catch something early), it does support the idea that he's a Grass Gym Leader.

EDIT: Combo moves! some moves, when used together in double or triple battles have different effects. For example, Grass Oath followed by Fire Oath creates a "sea of fire" similar to Hail or Sandstorm.

Also, Iris is in fact an in-game character. Not sure in what capacity, but she's been seen in a trailer.

Noice...

Got to say, I think the anime has become bogus towards the end of the Sinnoh Saga in the buildup towards Best Wishes. A trainer with a Darkrai and a Latias. Come on!!!!!

But, it was time for a change with Brock.

Brandon had all three Regis, Noland as good as had an Articuno. Legendaries have been seen before, there is precedent, and the point is the sheer power of these Pokémon meant nobody stood a chance. Ash is the first trainer to ever knock out his Darkrai, then bam, he's got a Latios too. I'm not sure why they did it...I think they wanted to have Ash lose, but without it seeming unrealistic, and just for writing reasons (like when Tommy managed to beat Zedd....bullcrap).

Still, I'm looking forward to watching the Sinnoh League, seeing as Ash is actually using all of his Pokémon in it, including freaking Quilava! Quilava! And Gliscor's even coming back!

No. Brock is incredible. But the writer's just don't know what to do with him. Even if the arc through Sinnoh, they only included Brock because there were three Lake Guardians. But they just never do anything with him. His entire time in Sinnoh he's caught two Pokémon and evolved one. Pathetic, they should have him more involved, give him a particular task or whatever. The exact same thing will end up happening to Dento anyway. They'll stick with this Sommelier thing for a while, then it'll amount to nothing. He'll just be a Brock clone, able to cook and take care of all the rest of it too, so very conveniently.

EDIT: There's a theory going round that the very first gym - Dento's - is a triple battle gym, with three leaders using each of the starter types. This is based on two people stood behind Dento in some screenshots, his badge, and his gym puzzle. It could also be helpful for his departing the gym in the anime.

On a similar note, how about the idea that Yanappu might be part of a trio of monkeys, again in the starting types? Check Serebii for more. It's interesting, at the very least...if it turns out to be true I'd be interested in the water monkey for my team...I would be interested in the fire monkey if, as I've pointed out many times, it wasn't so overdone and clichéd.

So, let me know what you think of that!

The last post is too big, so I'm double-posting, sue me!

Serebii's got lots of juicy new info. It's not clear where it's from, Serebii seems to have directly got this himself. He warns that it may change in the final product, but - wow!

There are to be 156 Pokémon (which I've seen elsewhere too), 3 of which are event legendaries (less than Gen IV, which technically had 5), bringing the total up to 649. Yup, we're at that point already...

He's specified National Dex numbers for all these upcoming Pokémon, but I'll skip them, check Serebii if you like.

There's a three-stage Dark/Dragon line, possibly pseudo-legendaries. Humuna humuna!

We have lots of Fighting legendaries, the first barring Arceus!

There's a Steel/Fighting legendary, a Rock/Fighting and a Grass/Fighting which seem to be a legendary trio. None of those combinations are that exciting, all but Rock have been seen before.

There is apparently to be a PURE FLYING type legendary! I mean...BUH!?

There will be an Electric/Flying and a Ground/Flying legend.

There's a Dragon/Ice legend that seems to be the third in the trio with Reshiram & Zekrom. That Ground/Flying Pokémon is between it and those two in the Pokédex though, which bugs me. I know they don't want to be obvious (too late by giving them similar types) but...it's nice when matching Pokémon are together...

The event legendaries will be Water/Fighting, Normal/Psychic, and Bug/Steel. Very weird...Poliwrath's type, freaking Girafarig's type, and the first ever Bug legendary (bar Arceus). Certainly seems to be a step down from, you know...Creator of Everything Ever. Including that legend.

So, at least 12 legendaries according to Serebii. Many fans will be angry. There are, however, two Pokémon between the seeming pseudo-legends that he hasn't specified, which could also be legends...

EDIT: Just gone to TV.com to talk about this, someone's made a very good point: Zorua, Zoroark and Victini are supposed to only be available by event, so some of his info is clearly wrong or mistaken.

EDITY EDIT: Info overload on Serebii! So much info! Go check it out! Comment on any of it here!

Okay first off, I now the starter evos have been revealed for awhile but im liking the fire type design even though fire/fighting is getting way overused... but it still looks good. Mijumaru's final evo looks... different but still cool. Tsutarja seems to be like a lizard losing parts and turning into a snake.

The three gym leaders with the three lement monkeys is a new factor which i find interesting. Id think i'd catch the fire or grass one though for some reason.

The Team Plasma boss looks really... um... kingly i guess?

The season deer also gets an evolution with changing antlers. Certainly different. And that Basaro has two different forms for some reason. Who knows why...

THe pre evo like POkemon all look interesting. And does anyone else think the bull should be a Tauros evo just like mamanbou should be a Luvdisc evo?

The Dream World does seem to be an interesting conecpt. Who knows how it'll work.

THe legenday listing types are all pretty cool. And a pure flying! whats it gonna be? a cloud or a tornado? and a dark dragon pseudo legendary. Should be good to train.

Bloody hell, not fire and fighting again. Blaziken was crap, Infernape was worse, so by that train of thought, the final evolution of Pokabu will be ****.

So, looks like it's back to the grass and water type starters for me. But saying that, there looks to be some good fire types on offer, so that's an improvement on the other region.

Ononokusu looks pretty good. There's a bit of Giratina in the face.

Also, Gigaiasu. Something that I might try to get when I get the game.

Dangoro looks like it could be a pre-evo for Nosepass.

Just seen the new Officer Jenny for the anime. Nice.

Basurao has a different form in the two different games, similar to how Deoxys started out. I suspect a third form in the third game.

We know quite a bit about how the Dream World will work, Hotrod. What do you want to know exactly? It may already be known.

No, Bongo. Blaziken was awesome. Seriously, what didn't you like about it? At the time it had unique typing, it looked epic (still does), and has a decent movepool & stats. Infernape was ok. The only real reason its typing was a shame was that the other two got unique typings.

I guess you guys haven't heard, huh? It's technically not confirmed yet, but it's as good as; supposedly, no Pokémon in Generation V will be related to previous ones, at all. Totally cutting Isshu off. Mamanbou is probably not related to Luvdisc (and I've already cried about that too much. Heh), Buffalon, I'm sure, has nothing to do with Tauros (who doesn't need to evolve anyway), and Dangoro is as good as confirmed to be Gigaiasu's prevo. I suggested on TV.com it could be the new Geodude :P

Anyone else thinking that the small rock (Dangoro i think...) will evolve into Gigaiasu? it looks like it to me...

And dont know about anyone else but I quite like the Pokedex's design for this region.
