Are you kidding me, Hotrod? You're asking if anyone else has thought of what I just said in my last post? Come on, man, are you even reading other posts? |

What didn't I like about Blaziken? Well, I didn't like it as a starter in Gen 3, not because of what it becomes, but because I heavily dislike Combusken. It's an ugly ugly critter, it didn't learn any decent fire type moves at that point, it was crap against at least half of the gyms in the Hoenn region and it takes forever to level up to Blaziken. I don't mind the final stage, I just don't think it's worth going through Combusken to get to. Not as a starter. If it's pal parked over, I don't have a problem with it. It's all in context of its generation. Yeah, I know it's possibly seperate to the other regions. Just pointing out that it could be, in that they look a bit similar in design and execution. Not that they are. Buffalon looks pretty cool actually. I agree that Tauros doesn't need to evolve, and since it's a male only species, there's probably not a chance of it being a pre-evo. But, Buffalon might not be a male only species, since it's based on a buffalo, not a bull. |

This is the last bit of news I'm going to copy to here, since the floodgates could open at literally any time now; some site (I forget which) shipped the games early, so some people will already be playing through and finding everything. From now on I'll just comment on details I choose to. Please, please, do the same. A scan of the intruction manual's turned up, specifically the page that shows the gym leaders. It could, of course, be less-than-authentic, but it seems to match up. We know the first two gyms already. Third is in Hiun City (the big one) and has the Beetle Badge, so would seem to be a Bug gym. Gym 4 has the Bolt Badge, presumably an Electric gym, ran by Kamitsure, a lady type. Gym 5 is in Hodomoe City, run by Yakon who gives the Quake Badge, so probably Ground type. That's my favourite so far, we've never had a Ground trainer anything below eighth gym, that's cool and different. Gym 6 is run by Furoe in Fukiyose City, who gives the Jet Badge. No idea what type that could be. Although another fan site says Flying, sounds about right. Gym 7 is in Sekka City, run by Hachiku who gives the Icicle Badge. Two points to make: One, I'm sick of Ice type gyms in the seventh position. I want Ice early in the region. Two, the Ice type gym badges have a crap history. Pryce's was the Ice Badge in Japan, but at that point the translators were still changing the name of every badge, so they called it the Glacier Badge. Candice gave the Glacier Badge, so they had to change it in English to the Icicle Badge. Even though it looks like a Glacier and nothing at all like an Icicle. Now, the Isshu badges are all long and thin, so this one will look exactly like an icicle, but they're going to have to rename it. Well done, translators! Anyway. Gym 8 is a tad exciting. In Souryuu City, the Legend Badge is given out by none other than Iris! She's a gym leader! Which I think is cool, I even considered that for a fanfic once, having a trainer travelling a region with the 8th gym leader, not finding that out until they got to the gym. I considered that when I was about 10...so I guess the writers are trying to think on their target audience's level? :/ Still, based on Kibago (which will simply have to evolve by the time they get there), the name Legend Badge, and the fact I checked an alternative fan site, she appears to be a Dragon Leader. Guess I can't complain, it's only the second time, Sinnoh repeated Johto's 6th AND 7th gyms, but it would be nice to see some prominent dragon trainers early on. EDIT: It seems Iris may only be the 8th Leader in one game (Black, one source tells me), and an old man she's been seen in a screenshot with is 8th in White. Interesting... HMs: Cut, Fly, Surf, Strength, Waterfall and Dive. That is apparently it. The first time since Johto not to have 8 and the first time since the very first games that there aren't 7. Which is good, less moves that we don't need. But three Water moves, including Dive again, suggesting that horrible amount of water between land parts is not only traversable, but it's necessary to progress. And I hate that, personally. I don't like water routes, constantly the chance for Pokémon to appear. Hoenn's water is the main reason why its my least favourite region. It seems they're really doing what they did in Hoenn to the Nth degree here, separating it from other regions drastically (which was a really unpopular move. People like Pokémon related to those of previous generations). Bah. Also, apparently you get given one of the monkeys super-effective again the first gym, negating the point of it. It also negates the awesome of the monkeys, I want the chance to just catch them myself. I can promise you though this will mean I'll never get Yanappu without trading. |

The entire Pokédex is now available on Serebii. It's just...wow...ok, so there are some duds, of course, but there are a lot of really gorgeous designs, and a lot of Pokémon I want to use... They even have stats for fully evolved Pokémon, and some of them are gorgeous...I really just want to see movepools now...it's so exciting! How can you guys not be more excited!?! Seriously, I wish they'd just...I dunno...for the last half year or whatever, just revealed one Pokémon (or maybe one evolution line) every day (every two or three days?) so we had time to discuss each one! I could seriously just write essays and essays on what we have so far. I want to make two trival points about things I've noticed looking through this. First, remember how we didn't like Isshu for its lack of Fire-types? Only Five new ones, and only one new line, the starters, in the regional dex? They've definitely sought to rectify that here, with 15 brand new fire types, including a three-stage line of Ghost/Fire Pokémon. Most of the ones I've looked at have lush stats too! In comparison, there are only 17 new water types, which are without a doubt the most abundant type of Pokémon. Also, there are a LOT of three-stage lines. Including starts, psuedo-legends, etc, there's a grand total of 18 three-stage lines, encompassing 54 Pokémon, a third of the dex. We'll exclude Eevee's family, but generation I introduced 16 three-stage lines...hmm...not a huge discrepancy...but I guess these are more noticeable because they're new. There are just so many new Pokémon, it's so much to take in all at once... |

the pokedex is awesome! i actually liked a lot of the designs. And i did have a feeling Kibago would become Ononokusu. im definitely gonna catch a kibago. the ghost fire type is actually a pretty good design. they introduced the polar bear as well but is number 615 part of their line or not? And N has been decided to be with Team Plasma... and on an anime note, i dont think iris is gonna tell ash that she's a gym leader, much like misty did. or if she isnt going to its because she is given the opportunity to become a gym leader... who knows. |

No, no it's not...just no...you can tell by looking...no. Look at their stats. If it has stats displayed, it can't evolve, they only have the stats for final evolutions. |

okay good. i was hoping it wasnt. and turns out that there is a version exclusive gym leader. the 8th gym in black is iris and white has the old man which was next to her. it couldve been vice versa though cant remember. but maybe he is the gym leader and after ash beats him, gets iris to take his place. |

Legend gym, huh? Know it's probably not likely, but it would be pretty cool if the leader threw a legendary Pokémon at you. But, it's not likely to happen. Just implies it from the name. Arcanine is also the Legendary Pokémon, but she's not likely to have one. Dragon types would presumably be the obvious choice for that gym. But, yeah, another ice type gym at seven is pretty annoying. But, if they had it earlier in the game, like the first one, you'd be screwed if you picked the grass type and grabbed the standard generic flying type. |

Not really, they could put other decent Pokémon early on. Anyway it'd be no different to choosing a Fire type, getting the Bird, then taking on a Rock gym. Followed by Water & Electric. Yes, Iris & Shaga both use Dragon types. Which is why in the anime Iris has a Kibago. Hotrod, sorry, but if you come across news like that, assume I've already posted it...I've posted most news already

I'm going to point out that the difference with fire against rock types... This was mainly in Kanto, but also I think could apply to Sinnoh. Less to Hoenn because of Rock Tomb, but Brock and Roark's lot barely used rock type attacks. It was all Tackle and Bind and Headbutt. Plus the defensive moves. Plus, I've got fond memories of repeatedly using Ember on Brock's Onix with Charmander, but that became unneccesary with it learning Metal Claw in FR/LG. Same principle applies I suppose. At that tender level, it's not likely that ice types would know that many dangerous ice moves. Probably a Powder Snow at best, if that. We know anything about the Elite Four yet? |

We know everything about the Elite Four, but like I said, I'm not going to constantly post news here any more since there'll be so much of it, click on to serebii.net, but be warned, it sucks. EDIT: So, Poké Rangers Isshu anyone? What else could you get from this... a primate based team, a turtle based team, a team based on legendary dragons would work VERY well now, and even a cross-regional team! Assuming you go with the magic number of five, you've got five generations. I'd probably wait until we're nearer VI so you could get your sixth Ranger though.Heh. Seriously though, Yankee, I hope you're reading this. We need to make sure that if anyone wants to write an Isshu based fic, they wait. Anyone asking to do one now is doing it off the hype of the new generation. At the very least there shouldn't be one until the American release. |

Yeah, I agree with you there. On writing one set in the region. Although, if it's based on the six regions, wouldn't that be similar to Dimension Warriors? But, using the new Pokémon to make monsters... I'm cool with that. Especially since it kinda already happened. You're looking at a different Serebii to me, mate. There's nothing there on the gyms or the Elite Four. |

Sort of, except all the regions would be real. And have their own Pokémon. It was more the generations I was thinking of than the regions, really. Oh yeah, monsters are fine. I can't remember when my first Sinnoh based monster appeared, but Nanene had a Buizel long before its English name was known, never mind the games actually coming out. Well, there is. It wasn't put up today, read through the details from yesterday. You don't even need to do that, there's a few buttons that say "Details within", it's one of those. And actually, there are some Elite Four details today, about the rematches. |

The Boss Baddie Who Never Fights

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but is it just me or are Gamefreaks being lazy with Torunerosu, Borutorosu and Randorosu because those three shout Pallette Swap much?. Well, not just them, but some of the other Pokémon in a Plusle/Minun combination do give me that impression as well. Then, there's also the ones with the Justice Heart ability. Secondary Fighting types for four-legged Pokémon. But I like the newer dragons and their type combinations, especially the three-headed Dark/Dragon Sazando. I might consider using it as a base for an enemy or antagonist to the Poké Rangers. I'm really liking the Grass Snake starter and its evos more now. Much better than the fighting Bacon. |
