Guys,

OK, so not a prop as such.

I've got hold of a 1:72 scale millienium falcon and I was looking to light it up like the MR falcon.
However, the lighting kits you that I've found are in the US and in some cases very expensive.

SO... I'm looking to light the hyperdrive, cockpit and 'headlights'.

Issue 1
I'm no good with electronics, and I'm not quite sure what I need to do this or where to get it.

Hyperdrive LEDS
I'm thinking something like this to light it - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Blue-LED-Car-30CM-Strip-Light-Lamp-Waterproof-Flexible-/200633622145?_trksid=p4340.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DDLSL%252BSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%252BDDSIC%26otn%3D8%26pmod%3D360381726369%252B360381726369%26po%3D%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D1551655158799482466&_qi=RTM637056

Hyperdrive lighting part 2
I need to dissapate the light for the hyperdrive - I was thinking of smoked or frosted acrylic sheet, but I need something flexible for the curve - anyone have any ideas?

Cockpit
I plan to light the cockpit with different colour lights, possibly using fibreoptics - anyone had any experience with this or know where to get it?

Headlights
Nothing exciting here - just a couple of headlights like the MR falcon

Now the part that will cause me issues is the wiring - I'd like to use mains power and have one on/off switch for everything.
From when I built a couple of sabers, I remember different leds being different power and there's possibly a heat issue too, as I dont want to melt the falcon.

So, are there any people with experience in doin this, that could help?

Thanks

Jon

Cool project Jon , would love to get a hold of one of these myself B)

The curved strip on e bay looks perfect for the Falcons hyperdrive , you could get more light reflected back by putting foil behind it to direct the light forward. I'm sure LEDs dont give off a lot of heat like bulbs do so acrylic sheet would be good , I have seen window frosting spray in tyhe past that might give a diffused effect , as long as its not affected by the light or heat that could work.Other than that access to a sandblaster might help !!
Fibre optics are great to work with , you could feed some through to the hyperdrive lights for any blue lighting you would need and red and white LEDs for example for the rest of the cockpit, remember that most LEDs have a lens that focoses the light forward so make sure the end of the fibre optics finish/ start there.
Used to do a lot of modelmaking in the past but not bought anything along these lines for years but sure ebay would be a good start or maplins etc for the elctronics and fibre optics .

looking forward to seeing your progress Jon B)

I'm about to purchase the same kit and build lights into it. I'm at the same level of experience as you too.
