I had to sell my SGB clone pilot a few years ago, and it was a heart ache. My wife, bless her heart, tried to replace it with one she saw on ebay not realising its origins. It was a UK recast of the SFP lid. Filled with all kinds of badness, but it was bought with such good will, I had to do something with it.

so I sought to make it as accurate as I could

things wrong -
1. the dome detail is actually raised, not just a painted feature
2. ear recess is too deep and wrong shape
3. recess back of the dome too small
4. no ear greebs
5. no chest box and associated greebs
6. no decals

we in the UK deserve better than poor recasts and expensive US props with the added postage and import tax. Plan - to make a more accurate clone pilot helmet available at a reasonable price

built up dome detail built with cardboard and car filler

cut and re-shaped the recesses area

narrowed the ear recessed area and built a nice ear shape and ear tail

thats it for version 1. Kits were supplied with the helmet, box, tubes, decals, lens and mesh.
If I were doing version 2 -what I would address:

1. have since found a small detail missing - 2 raised platforms at the back of the lid - 4 strips of 1/2round styrene strips should do. Easy fix for people who already have this kit.
2. solitary vent - build in so I dont have to mark on each kit goign out to owner to guide drilling out
3. get a nicer smoother shape to the recessed areas
