Hello guys, This is my first time posting here. I decided some time ago, when I was bored, to make a Mask from Skyrim. I had some modelling clay around so I got to work. It came out pretty nice, just eyeballing it. So I put it up on ebay. I got some pretty good responses from ebayes so I decided to make the entire series. Here's some pictures of the build. I wish I took more pics but half the time my hands were covered in clay and superglue residue, so my gf was pretty unhappy with me handling her expensive camera. I'm triyng to raise money to get my own with these ones. Details of the build : Material : Modelling clay, DAS and one other, but both the same. Fiber reinforced, mounted on watercolor cartboard base. I glued the first layer of clay with pva glue to the cardboard. After that, I put the second layer over, the one with the details. Basically, 3 layers : Cardboard, Clay base and clay details. Once it was dried, I poured superglue on the edges, to reinforce it. Sanded them, covered the small imperfections, sanded them again and afterwards painted them with watercolors, acrylics and finally a few coats of 10% sheen lacquer. Here's some of the pictures. The initial 8 masks and the wooden masks you need to unlock the 10th one look the same except for the paint job. The 10th bonus one has tusks, which were a pain to make, but I managed in the end. All of them are done but I only have a few pics so far, I'll take more of the rest maybe this evening. Edited by elektrowlad, Jan 7 2012, 01:23 PM.

Thank you very much. I'll have a bash at the dragonbone armor, full set. It's going to be a pain to source all the materials and all the clay I'll need, god, I don't even want to think about it right now :)) I'm thinking lots of foam (just made myself a foamcutter), some sort of fabric over it, like fiberglass tape for the clay to adhere to and clay over that. This way, it won't weigh a ton. any ideas? |

Be awesome to do. Been wanting to do some of the elven swords. Also it's good to see scratch building stuff too. Seems to be a dying art with everyone jumping on the CNC milling route. |
