okay so I was going to use pepakura to produce a 2D net, that i would be able to cut out and glue together to make a paper version of the 3D model I made in sketchup, but there are far to many parts to cut out and stuff, to make it look smooth. So how would you guys go about making this? any input would be awesome, thanks in advanced every body

Hi, the only thing I can say is your model in sketchup is made up of too many poly's to get it smooth. with something as simple as this you make want to lower the poly count as most of the smoothing when using pep comes from using filler and elbow grease with a sander and various level of grit sand paper. Still a cracking model mate. |

what scale you talking abt? they look like little rangs that nightwing or his ilk use? if it is that small; isnt easier to go old school on the build - a fishing float looks like a good shape for the body? |

Sheet styrene might be an idea? thin 1mm stuff for the body that can be shaped to a cone and then use body filler for the point? Then thicker styrene for the wings. Been a long time since i read any of the DC comics...are the wings meant to fold into the body? |

Styrene sheet for the wings perhaps , main body is worth a look round the supermarket or diy shop for something close then add cer body filler to get the correct shape. Alternatively a thick piece of dowelling , screw a threaded bar into it and attach it too a drill and sand to the shape. |

thank you for all your suggestions, but i was talking to my dad, and we got onto the topic of making things, and it turns out my dad used to make his down badges for him and his friends when he was a kid, like out of lead and solder, he told me that you need an original badge, but basically you pour some plaster of paris into a container, and while it is setting you push the badge into the plaster so it makes a cast, and then melt down some lead or solder, and then pour it into the cast, i was thinking that maybe i would be able to do it this way and just use something to make the rough shape of the birdarang, and then when i have a cast of it, i would be able to just make two and join them together with sime more solder, i used to be into electronics when i was like 7 and ended up with aload of solder XD and maverick, yes the wings do fold into the body, but i would like to have a prop with the wings open, as i want it for a costume, and then if i can make the one with the open wings, i will make a different version with the wings closed, so that i can have them on the utility belt
