Halfords in a pinchj but CFS much better to get it from as it's cheaper and better quality too. As for keys? you mena keys on the mould or the jacket? |

I use east coast fibreglass myself, Mav is right though, these shops use a nice quality FG. I also use mroe FG tissue rather than the thick CSM that you get from Halfords. The tissue is thinner, meaning you need more layers, but its also mroe readily flexible and soaks PE resin up better tissue on the left, CSM on the right ![]() I also found plain old chopped strands - ie the component parts of the CSM, not bonded into sheets - very useful. I Used to get this stuff after cutting CSM to size and loved it, cos it was a nice thing to stuff into corners etc. But recently fd a shop doign em unbonded and readily available! ![]() you basically mix it into a cup of polyester/fg resin and make a pourable paste!!! Fd this to be great stuff for my FG jacket during mold making ![]() I always use keys, on the split silicone molds between the 2 halves of the silicone mold. I like using lego blocks ![]() as well as between the silicone mold itself and the FG jacket ![]() Nate |

Halfords is very expensive mate so next time try the suppliers mentioned . There are others on line and they also do lots of varying grades of CFM matt and tissue. Nate thats home made P40

it kinda is! but I like the fact that I can make it a bit liquid and pour it on. In its liquid state it then flows into the nooks and crannies AS WELL AS form a real nice flat surf, as it gravitational. Then I sprinkle more chopped strand on top to absorb more PE resin and give the mixture more integrity? the other company I have used is MB fibreglass, but I must admit NOT liking their PU resins. Had one or 2 bad experiences. |

Tissue laid in first backed with mat...thought with it being a jacket I'd probably mix up a batch of easy flow 120/60 and add a butt load of ally trihydrate and make a paste to make the jacket from but that's me as it's quicker and lot cleaner that working with glass fibres that get all over the place. |

Yeah I've tried the MB polyurethane as well Nate , worst ever!! Really brittle and more like polyester resin. Some good techniques coming out here , will definately try some of them. |

@Tango - glad I wasnt the only one man?!?! Some other guys i know swear by it, I just get all sorts of issues with it. I use SG2000 from ebalta - NEVER had a problem, good price and flows nice. @Mav - wow easyflo? You use PU resin to form a jacket? DOesnt that get quite expensive? |

Nate...nope as you can use up to 60% filler in it...plus with it being urethan i don't have to worry about the jacket being brittle....Besides when I order my easy flow i get it 25kg at a time |

Thanks for the info guys, however I didn't go halfords or supplier method, a friend gave me some that works in a garage, although thinking about it I will only use the mould maybe once, so I'm going to be using some plaster of paris I have. |

I'd be interested too. I buy my resin either in batches of 20 kg or 30 kg too (that is total weight ie 1/2 and 1/2 of each is made up of component A and ![]() I am paranoid abt shelf life too, although I must say my requirements often use up resin within 6-8 months! Nate |

Yeah part b goes off and gets lumps in it if you dont give it a good shake every now and then , also the lids like to glue them selves on too !! I was in touch with Martin today and apparently there is a product called polypurge that you can spray into the container that keeps air and moisture out , which is what lowers shelf life

Hi Tony, you could also try http://www.benam.co.uk/ They are based near me and supply a lot of stuff to CFS, so they may be cheaper. |

Plaster of paris may not cut it mate....look for plaster impregnated bandages the stuff they use for fixing broken limbs...I use it for backing the alginate of a life cast |

Tony if your looking to make a jaclket have a look at Plasti-Paste2. Its not the cheapest stuff around but it is so easy to use. Two parts that you mix 2-1 and it makes a really thick paste that goes rock hard. It works on vertical surfaces as well. I got to see some when I went to Bentham. It's not as cheap as FB, but they use it on almost every product or prop they make. Loz |
