Hi all, I want to install some fans into the face plate of my Vader. I can cut into the fibreglass no problem, but my worry is the paint. Is there a risk the paint surface could come away, if so how can i prevent it. Loz |

Where abouts on the face are you putting them Loz ? All depends what you cut it with too , if it builds up heat it could bubble the paint as well. Can you not glue them to the inside instead? |

Hi Steve, it was good to see you the weekend. Hope your lad had a blast and I would love to see the pic of me with him. My plan is to cut two holes at the top of faceplate and install two fans that can then either suck air in or out the dome. I have a dremel kit to make the holes. then I shall put a second fan at the very bottom grill. Loz |

So the ones in the faceplate will be under the dome ? I would drill a series of holes first , the shape of the hole you need , then use a dremel disc cutter or better a round saw disc to open up the hole then just clean up the edges with a file. File down away from the paint though as it may chip. You could even mask the area first too as this will stop the paint chipping. |

I always use a dremel with diamond saw blade in as cuts fibreglass nice and cleanly. Most paint will withstand the slight temp, but if your worried get someone with a eye dropper to drop water on as you cut. Don
