Thanks! :D

It's made from three wild hedge branches, held together with cotton cording. Next time I'm down at the river I'm gonna cut some cane to make another one so it looks to be made from bamboo ;)

Thanks guys :D

The key to working with leather (as with other stuff ) is having the right size for the job and keeping it moist ;) With this I ended up scrapping the holster bit and going with a thicker piece, as the one I was working with was too thin to work using the wet mold.....the clip holder however turned out really nice :)

I'll post some more pics soon....waiting for the new holster piece to dry so I can glue and sew it now.

Ooh thanks Kat , can you say moist again ? Lol

So you have to wet it to make it plyable and to stretch it?

hehee, moist, moist moist :P

yep it needs to be wet ;) a lot of things I've read says to dip it in boiling water BUT if you get it too hot or let it stay in the water too long it will get very "crunchie" and brittle ...I had to learn that the hard way :( now I just let the sink water run hot and dip it in there....you can dip and stretch it multiple times and start over. All tooling and stitching works better when wet too

I've been doing some stitching work tonight, I'll load photos in the morning. I'm also working on a gun rig tutorial for a friend's site...I'll take loads of pics and use them to post one on here on how to work with leather if you want :)

LOL well that's what I use :) I use eco flo water base leather dye. You can also use acrylics to stain it. Then use a conditioner and sealer. Then a nice coat of wipe off oil or wax.

lmao, you are nuts......but of course I already knew that :P

Thanks Hun :) Here's a little background info I found out about the design of the pendant....

after doing a little research I found that the design is based on the Kuro http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koru

there's some really beautiful designs out there.....here's just a sample ;)

Here's the TR render

and here is the closest one I could find to base mine off of Posted Image

after mine is dried, I'm gonna clean it up, make a mold and cast it in resin, hopefully to get that translucent look :)

LOL well the moist-er the better ;)

I've started using Crayola air dry clay lol not great, but it's easy to work with and I can get a huge tub for $5.97 so there's plenty for the kids to play with while I'm working on my stuff. The only thing I don't like about it.....you can't use it on any kind of frame work, it seperates from it and cracks while drying :(

I have a holster update!

Nearly finished! Just need to clean it up a bit, add the leg strap, and dye it :D

Looking good Kat , have you ever tried mdf instead of plywood? Easier to work with especially when sandingand painting as it has no grain like plywood . You should get some and give it try
