erm, i don't think there's any formula o.o.

it's just a matter of looking at the market and calculating how much you will lose making a certain potion.

you will also need to look at the graph to see if that potion is being held by merchants as well as if it's about to crash or if it's just beginning to rise.

If the potion is rising, and the exp is what you like, and you don't lose much making the potion, that's what you gotta look for.

when i got 99 herblore, i mostly made super restores when the market was good.

sometimes, i'd end up breaking even if i held my potions long enough for them to rise.

i would of only lost 60m instead of 70m going for 80-99 herblore, however, i was a bit late during 95-96 herblore in selling my potions and the merch clan that was holding them off, dumped the potions and i lose a huge chunk of millions..

overall...

if you can watch the market really good you will lose no more then 60-70m depending on well you do with the market.

yea herblore is a tricky skill and very annoying...

it use to be much better before the GE..

good luck, hope i helped at least a little.

Wfv+Herb+2nd-Potion=X times however many potions you need

or Wfv+Herb+2nd-Potion/EXP = gp per exp

make sure to use all gold charms first, then green then crims and blues last =P.

if you can, try to save blues til you can make geyser titans (89 summon)

once you get your summon higher save your greens til you can make unicorns (88 summon)

barker toads are the best to make for golds they require (66 summon).

then fruit bats for greens (69 summon)

granite lobsters for crimson charms (74 summon)

i wouldn't use blues until you get 89 summon tho.

then finally...

once you get 85 summon make swamp titans (crimson charms) swamp titans are good until you can make pack yaks (96 summon).

if you want a cheap method of getting summon up do slayer! that's what i did for most of my summon levels =), slayer will pay you well and give you charms.

not to mention 99 slayer in the process =P (if you decide to get it 99) and alot of combat exp as well as range exp if you use a cannon.

For 90-99 cutting maple or teak trees seems to be very fast, altrough chopping the new ivy can give very fast xp too. It's up to you, some people say cutting teaks is faster, and some say ivy is better.
A good spot for ivy is behind the Varrock Palace, and for maple trees: there are many of them north of Seers Village. For teak logs, the Hardwood Grove in Ta Bwo Wannai is a good spot.
Note that chopping ivy does not give you logs or any other kind of item when chopped.

Hope this helps, if The Rock has a better answer, then nevermind this

I would do teaks. I did teaks from about 94-99 and I was able to get about 90k woodcutting experience per hour. Chop about 16 logs into your inventory then immediately after cutting one log drop two logs vertically. If done fast enough you will instantly get another log as you reclick the tree.

Teaks are indeed faster, however, if you are not to experienced with powering skills, it would be more efficient to cut ivy.

I have not tested ivy yet or hallow/arctic pine trees.

but i know there alot faster then before. Well the new ivy is relaxing and still fast exp. So if you want to get 99 woodcutting by relaxing and just enjoying the skill, then yes, ivy would be best for you :p.

good luck
