Blast furnace

the blast furnice is a mini game located in keldagrim. this mini game is a skill based mini game. its based on skill of smithing. the only reward from the blast furnace is that while smithing there, you use 2x less coal. so if you were smithing steal, it would only cost 1 coal instead of 2, with mithril, 2 coal instead of 4 and so on. using this method to smith you can get nice experience and even gain very little money. and thats great for a skill like smithing!

how to get there:
the easiest way to get there is by taking the mining cart in the underground passway from taverly to catherby. to get into this place you must have completed the quest "fishing contest." its a very simple quest and should only take 5-10minutes max.
a good guide is here: http://www.zybez.net/quests.php?id=21

to get there the easiest way is to teleport with your games necklace and follow this path:

once here go down the stairs and speak to the cart conductor. say you want to buy a ticket and he will charge you 100gp for one. buy the ticket then ride the train cart there

this is the location of the blast furnace:

the red square is the blast furnace and the "you are here" is were you get off the cart

in order to actually get good xp while smithing, you want to go to world 58. which is the blast furnace world. in this world you dont want to be working on the blast furnace. you want to be smithing. so dont fix the machines, operate the conveyor belt, or do anything. there will be other people here willing to do that in world 58.

now for the actual method of smithing at the blast furnace.

your invo should look something like this:
Posted Image

note that you should have 2x as much coal then mith THEY MUST BE NOTED, reasonable amount of cash and a hammer. i like to use stealing creation hammers for faster smithing, you dont have to if you would like. you can also wear anything that you like, weight reducers can help here but arent needed since your not moving them very far. also varrock armor does work here! so bring it :)

now the method:
first use the noted coal on ordan it will ask you how much to unnote, select "X" and type 22. he will charge you 495gp for 22 coal, choose "its a deal" and you will have 22 unnoted coal in you invo. now go and run up the ramp and click on the conveyor belt select yes and you will put 22 coal in the melting pot. do this with 22 more coal. then do it with the mithril ore. he will charge you 1,782gp to unnote 22 mithril ore. once done this repeated it adding in 2 more invos of coal then 1 of mithril. once done, run to the bar dispenser and select take bars.
this will come up:

then run the 22 bars over to the anvils and smith them into mithril bolts(unf). once done smithing the first 22, run back over to the bar dispenser and take the other 22 you made, they should be ready. take those bars and smith them. [NOTE: if you walk over the the bar dispenser and its red, grab a bucket and fill it with water, then select "cool off bars" and then you can collect them.] After you have smithed all 44 bars, repeat the unnoting process and continue smithing.

money lose/gains:

cost of mithril ore: 256gp
cost of coal 2x: 400gp
cost of unnoting coal: 22gp
cost of unnoting mithril: 81gp
cost of mithril bolts(unf) x10: 750
total cost: 757
make back: 750
total lose: 7gp
but if you add feathers you make about 2gp
(i use x2 for coal becaise you use 2 coal, and x10 for bolts because you smith 10 per bar)

also for a little extra cash and some free fletching xp, bring feathers in the empty space and attatch them to the unf bolts for a little extra cash.

using this method you can gain about 45k-60k per hour in smithing with little profit!
i did this method from 60 smithing and plan on using it!
i also have a friend named "jumping bug" who is getting 99 smithing here. he started at 60 and is already 88 at the time of this guide. i wish him luck with 99 and wish everyone else luck with smithing :)

you could but you really dont need to. and theres a max amount of coal you can add to the blast furn. id only say use a BoB is if your going to be using the bank and running ores over. which isnt great xp ;)

but if you want to use a familair...then use something to boost smithing.
