The Pritchard Scale

In the movie The Dead Poets' Society, the hero introduces his students to the Pritchard Scale, which states that any work of literature can be considered in terms of quality of subject (x) and quality of writing (y), which are then put on a scale. The idea is to get the largest volume. He rightly dismisses this as bunk and has his students rip the section from their textbooks.

I had an epiphany* a while back, and realized that any object can be considered in terms of this scale. All I have to do is change the terms, and anything can be analyzed in terms of its quality as a murder weapon, and its capacity to be worshipped as an idol.

The first person names an item, the next person analyzes it in this way from 1-10 and names another item, and so forth.

For example, the Washington Monument.

It's pretty useless as a murder weapon since it's practically immovable no matter how heavy it is, so it's a 1 there, however it's big and impressive (but still not anthropomorphic) so as an idol, I give it a 9.

How about...

a rainwater barrel

Hmm, a rainbarrel, if the person is overcome by another person, can be used to drown someone and then possibly hide the remains, so I give it a four in regards to a muder weapon. And something that collects water and keeps a town alive could be worshiped as an idol, but then again, so could the sky and a river for that matter (and probably more since that's where the water *originates* from). With it also being made probably by someone of mid- to lower rank in a society, I give it a two for idol worshiping.

How about this large stone?

It's a stretch, but you might be able to tip it over onto someone, however even then they would probably notice it and move, so a 2. As an idol however, it's pretty amazing so 6.

A black Dell Inspiron laptop. I am too lazy to find a pic :P
