Rostov-on-Don - city in southern Russia, close to the the where the river Don runs into the Black sea. Rostov-on-Don keeps a townpartnership to my hometown Dortmund.

Askalon - town in Israel. I'm not entirely sure if it still exists under this name, but it was a fortress they fought for during the crussades (and though it begins with an A it doesn't end with an A ;)).

Auerstedt - small village in eastern Germany most people would've never heard of if if wasn't for a battle fought there in 1806 (victory of Napoleon over the Prussians).

(Salzburg is in Austria. If I'm not mistaken the famous musician Mozart was born there.)

Gettysburg - town in Pennsylvania where the largest battle of the US Civil War took place.
