^ The nazis often tried to abuse parts of Germany's history for their purposes (the nazi greeting with the stretched out arm and the call "Heil" are just two examples). ^ Nope, you are confusing him with General John Pope who was defeated in the second Bull Run battle. McClellan never got his command again after Lincoln dissmissed him when he failed to pursue Lee after the battle of Antietam. Lincoln could not simply dismiss the "victor of Gettysburg", but due to general Grants assignment as the leader of all Union armies Meade's de facto power as the commander of the Army of the Potomac was little. He held that command up to the end of the war though. Michael Jordan - Basketball legend. |
