Hello all. My internet's going to crap. There's something wrong with the thing out on the road. I might lose internet so If I'm not here, that's why. Just wanted you to know. BTW, this is how bad it's gotten: ![]() I usually get 20mbps download and 15mbps upload. I'm dying here! |

That is kind of bad. Hopefully it will improve soon. By the way, here's a typical score for me: ![]() Looks like I win for latency but that's about it

Divide that by a thousand, and you've got what I average. |

well you have to remember that my speed is caused by a damaged power supply out by the road. My internet drops out completely about every 6 minutes. It's hell. |

"Latency" is the same as "Ping", which you'll hear in games. It is the amount of time it takes for a piece of data to get from your computer to the server and back again. Latency is actually the more correct term since "Ping" is actually an action, not a number I'm not quite sure why "Ping" got adapted as the term for "latency" in gaming. You can Ping a computer, but you can't latency a computer.

All I gotta say is wow. My speed test here is on wireless and on a defective internet service. Unless you only pay like $25 a month for internet, you guys should really have it looked at. It's not normal to get under 8000kps download and 2000kps upload speed if you pay more than $25 a month for internet. <_< |

Its plenty normal. I know Time Warner charges near $50/month and it'll vary depending on what other services you have with them. I think there's no other cable provider in the area, and maybe one DSL company (Verizon) and a few dial-ups. Slim pickings. |

I agree with Petrie. The only internet service providers here are: 1) One cable company 2) One phone company 3) Maybe some high-end ones that I don't know about 4) Long-range connections like AOL I am in a large urban area so naturally there is a lot of selection for internet. My cable company provides 5,000kb/s (theoretical) download speed for $35 per month, 10,000kb/s for $50 per month, or 25,000kb/s (with unlimited monthly bandwidth) for $100 per month. Obviously I'm on the $35 per month plan, which is plenty fast enough for anything I do. I need faster LAN much more than I need faster internet. 25,000 kb/s seems unbelieveable to me, as that is almost half the speed of my wireless LAN (54,000 kb/s). I couldn't imagine internet being that fast ![]() My phone company provides 1,500kb/s for $30 per month (see why I went cable, not DSL? :p) |

It's been a nightmare downloading those LBT TV episodes... 40 something MB files that were averaging 2.7 Kbps. I went through 327 MB of LBT episodes like that. But what's a guy to do? -_- |

Brutal, but try downloading the full quality 1.5gb (1,624mb) ones. Now that's a pain. It would have taken you months to download even 1 episode. I'll bet you're glad I didn't post the full quality ones. Don't you have some relative or friend that'll let ya download those files off? It takes me about 1-2 minutes to download a tv ep.
