I'm thinking about POTENTIALLY going to grad school next year, and the benefits and downsides of the particular one I'm considering. It turns out the one I'm looking at I have a very good chance of going to for free if I get a certain fellowship they offer in French Revolution/Napoleonic studies. I absolutely love this era, and I would enjoy every moment of it, as well as get money to travel to Europe to do research on a topic of my choice, BUT... there are some potential drawbacks. I didn't really want to go back to school so soon after obtaining my undergrad, as I really wanted to get a career going and just start working. However, the economy is making that difficult, and my dream career (the Foreign Service) could take several years to get into. If I DID do this program, I'd probably be limited to becoming a professor or teacher of some kind, and I'm not sure I really want to do that. I might enjoy it, but I'd be locked in. So yeah... weighing the options I guess. Of course... I could be looking into becoming a Foreign Service Specialist instead of an Officer, though I'd need to obtain a certain skill, or hope they're hiring in a field I'm strong in, which at the moment they are not. So yeah... it's tough

I'm thinking about how I need to do a better job of managing my time. When will I learn that classwork and homework are the only things I have to do that and can work on that can not be delayed for any reason?

I'm thinking about how I'll need to get used to the amount of homework that I seem to get every week. I just can't seem to catch much of a break. <_< |

^ Same here. I think a lot of people think that. I'm thinking about how to divide up my day, as I have to keep packing, help move things over to the new house, and pick my friend up from the airport, who will be visiting from Ireland today. |

Yeah I'm sure they do. I also think I should learn to get out more and find time to take a few course and get out more. And might leave this place someday. |

Translating the concept of the British drum horses into Darwin's Soldiers. They'll see it on TV during one of their stays in a hotel or something. Bear in mind that each solid silver drum weighs 90 pounds. I have 3 ideas: 1.) Two anthro Clydesdales in military uniforms. One driving a decked out silver convertible and the other as the drummer. 2.) (Bearing in mind that anthro Clydesdales can be superhumanly strong) A single Clydesdale in a military uniform with both drums slung in front like an ordinary drum. 3.) An anthro Clydesdale in a suit of powered armor that is suitably decorated with both drums slung in front like an ordinary drum. Personally, I like the first option. |

I'm thinking that maybe it was a good thing that I failed the Foreign Service exam this year. I signed up for the consular track, not because it was my first choice, but because it's a bit easier to get into because less people sign up for it. I talked to an actual Foreign Service Officer the other day, and she said just sign up for the track you're really interested in, as you don't want to be locked into something you won't fully enjoy doing. For me, that would be Political officer, and I think I'm going to sign up for that track next year. It'll be a longer waiting list, but if I teach myself a critical language, it'll put me higher up on the register, and hopefully cut down some of the wait time. So yeah, maybe it was a good thing I didn't pass this year. ![]() I'm also thinking about the attack on the U.S. embassy in Kabul, and it serves as a reminder of the possible danger I'll be in in choosing this career, but at the same time, it's reassuring to know that no embassy personnel were hurt, and that the Foreign Service has an excellent record of keeping its employees safe and secure.

Thinking that I really should start looking at my computers' specs before I conclude the worst. After 3 years, I found out that the oldest computer I have (Compaq Presario sr5333wm) DOES in fact support PCI-Express graphics card. Time for an update. |

I'm thinking about the (lack of) homework I had to work on today. I honestly haven't felt this much relief since the start of these classes. After having to deal with a back-breaking amount of homework and classwork over the past four weeks, it's going to feel rather strange that I'll be able to go to bed before midnight tonight. |

I'm thinking about making regular trips into D.C. starting next week. I'd like to check out the Asian films they're gonna be showing at the Freer Gallery, and I'd like to make this a regular thing on my Fridays/Sundays now. |
