I've been in a very deep RPG craving lately, and lately I've completed games such as Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG for the SNES

Now I've decided to play some of the classic Playstation RPG's

Current game of choice: Final Fantasy IX(9)

Though it was not the most popular of the series, its one of the most visually stunning games in my opinion. Check out these screenshots:

And now some video (some FMV seq and trailers):

A Trailer (seemingly fan made)
Another trailer. Definately Fan Made
FMV Scene: Airship Chase

The art style of this game inspires my own style. But not only is it all eye candy, it also has some awesome storytelling. The gameplay is challenging enough (you gotta build up your levels for certain boss fights.) and everything else is perfect. It takes the 32 bit power of the PS1 and uses it to its full advantage! :)

The only minor complaint I have is that the game seems to be 75% storytelling. I need more gameplay to build up my levels and gain power ups and so on (this is a fault that Square Enix has had since Final Fantasy VII)

Post your thoughts on this game. But please try to avoid spoilers. I'm on disk 2 at the moment (the game is four disks long) And I'm enjoying every bit of it :)

I LOVE THIS GAME!!!

I played it the first time when I was 8 or 9... it's such a beautiful game! The dialogues, the battles, the music, the effects... EVERYTHING is good!!

Maybe I'll play this game AGAIN in the winter holidays... I've already played it so many times...

Final Fantasy 9 and 10 are my favorite RPG games!

Perhaps so, the graphic were superior for consoles at that time.

I've played 7 a few years ago. I have the game and its on my list of games to play...after 9 I plan to either play 6 for the sake of retro'ness :)

Check one of the following:

- Thrift Stores (usually the cheapest route, make sure they're not sold "As is")
- Yard Sales
- E-Bay
- Amazon
- The Internet (in general) - type in PlayStation (1/2/or 3) in any browser, and "buy"
- etc, etc, etc

Keep in mind, the PlayStation 2 (and some of the earlier versions of 3) are backwards compatible, meaning you can play old PlayStation games on them.

There are so many methods for buying old systems. Just look around. The internet is a massive market place.
