The difference between a film you think is underrated and a guilty pleasure is that a guilty pleasure typically has a mostly negative reception, a film you think is underrated could be both that or a film that has a positive reception, but is not that very well known-or remembered. Some movies I think are underrated: Happy Birthday to Me, a 1980 slasher Rock-A-Doodle The Lion King 2 Cats Don't Dance Terror Train |

Personally, I think the original Land Before Time would qualify! As every member on this forum will attest, it was a great movie, and yet it is apparently best known and remembered popularly as the film that spawned a plethora of sub-par musical sequels. (Personally—and I'm sure others will agree—I thought many of the sequels were quite good, and would love to see more of them if Universal managed to improve their quality. :p)
