Why is it that most LBT sequels have a herd of wandering dinos that stop in the great valley? First of all, is race not a problem anymore? Second, why leave the valley? Isn't the outside world, you know, dying? Plot convenience. Plot convenience everywhere. |

They changed the setting of the LBT world throughout the sequels. LBT 2 and 3 were still rather similar to the original movie with regard to the world (no suggestion of the outside world to be any different from the world in the original movie). LBT 4 was the first to show lush, green landscapes outside the Great Valley but still maintaining the atmosphere of a changing world forcing Ali's herd (which by the way stuck to the own kind same as they did in the original), LBT 5 was yet another movie with more lush and green landscapes (and no movie that appeared after it ever showed the land outside the Valley as the kind of wasteland we saw in the original. In LBT 5 there was however the racist undertone in the plan of the herd to split up. LBT 6 ultimately kicked the corpse of the original concept of the Great Valley as a special place with Doc's statement: "This place is nice but there are others just as nice out there somewhere". Extending the range beyond the Great Valley was probably a necessity to allow for more stories, but I agree that the movies would have benefitted from maintaining the somewhat darker atmosphere of the first movie with regard to the changing world and the racism / specism among the different kinds. |

Let your heart guide you to the music!

Didn't (EDIT: Oh and 11) 12 and 13 picture the outside world as a wasteland? EDIT: Though maybe just the spots they came out from |
