Hi all.

My girlfriend has a Mk3 Golf 1.4.

It was running fine until this week.

The idle speed keeps dropping to about 600-800 and sometimes cuts out.
What should it be?

What could cause it to drop?

I also noticed there was a slight popping noise coming from in the engine bay, haven't located it yet!

Engines aren't my strong point, just started fiddling with them!

is it injection???
if it is on the fuel rail there should be a idle control valve held in with 2 torx bits an have a plug in try takeing it out an cleaning with carb cleaner or petrol an put it back in
failing tht just unplug it an see if it runs any better.
