i have a 96 vento 1.8 cl with standrad 4 x100 hubs and solid 256mm discs currently.

want to upgrade this to 5 x 100 hubs (8v gti prob)

one guide a i found said straight bolt on of hub assembly

another siad i would need to change bottom ball joints only

another siad i would need to change botom ball joints, outer CV's/driveshafts and diameter and splines are different.

I'm now confused.com and don't know what i need to buy to make this happen.

thats a possibility but if i don't need parts why pay for them.
plus i'm being told that the gti outer cv's may not fit my driveshafts, in which case do i need complete different drivshafts, will they be the same length, will the inner fit into my 020 rod change box as gti's are 02a type?

Lol, sounds like an expensive way of doing it. Shame you have no other options.

The expensive option is often the most complicated and therefore, clearly best.

you can't rush art!
tristan recently done this on his vento and i think he had to change everything.

i'll try to contact him but he's about to be a dad and not an easy man to get hold of.

Aren't you also considering an engine swap? The vr would be easiest solution.
Oh for the love of wheels.

go to trents and compare a 4 stud car to a 5 stud one. if the stuff is the same its pretty simple from there on.

well i finally got it sussed thanks to rubjonny on clubgti.

this is the answer/options:

you have 2 choices here,
1. press 5 stud hubs into 4 stud bearing carriers, fit 5 stud outer cvs then either redrill 4 stud discs to 5 stud or fit 280mm brakes and buy early Passat VR6 discs, which are VW only:
357 615 301 A - 280 brake disc, 5x100 - 38.83+VAT

2. change the wishbones, roll bar, and complete bearing carrier assemblies for MK3 5 stud ones. or if you want to keep your old roll bar use later passat 5 stud wishbones.

so basically i need mk3 gti/vr hub carriers, wishbones, outer cv's and rollbar.
