Ill b there in my mk4

sorry dude its mk2 golfs only.

is that not discrimination against all other models?? i think maybe you need to think about possible future mk2 owners who might be interested to come along?

or just the general idea of an elitist mk2 members club probably won't go down well on here!

sorry, mk2 cars only. its like a tidyvag meet and a bunch of people come along in jap cars because they are interested in golfs.

on a serious note though that is the way things could end up and that is definitely not what anyone wants surely. the whole point of Tidy VAG is that it is for all cars from the Volkswagen Audi Group - jesus the clue is the name. I know this is not a Tidy event but you can see the by the comments that its not something that fits well with this club...?

IMO this type of segregation is exactly what the VW scene is NOT known for. Fair enough to even say it is a MK2 based club but to actually go so far as to say MK2's only and that you can't be involved unless you have one is a bit much. And I agree with Jon, it's more fun to be able to look at a range of cars rather than something the same as your own.

Don't have either of my mk2's anymore (boohoo) but even if I did I wouldn't attend an event with this kind of attitude.

thats my 2p's worth anyway.

To be fair tho... its up to them. If they want a club of 6 then thats their choice. i attend meets for the people as much or more than the cars... so dont care what u lot drive.

:claps: at this whole thread. especially at pod and the flo jackets!!

Ok, the idea of this meet as with all regional meets is to get MK2 Owners and enthusiasts together. You will find that the MK1 Golf Owners club have been doing the same for years. At the Taunton meet a few years back we had 16 MK1s. If you consider that to be elitist then so be it, but i wouldn't. As its for all MK2 models there will be a variety.

Pretty much every single meeting in the UK is a homoginisation of VAG. Sometimes its nice to be different. There's nothing wrong with being specific to a marque. I wouldn't call that elitist.

Right, let me put this straight. MK2 Golf Owners Club meets are open to all who:

1. Own a MK2 Golf
2. Have a MK2 that is off the road/project etc
3. Keen enthusiasts of the MK2 Golf; i.e. those that would like to own one.

Therefore, if you have a non-MK2 Golf and you fit the above, even if you turn up in something VAG that's absolutely fine and we'd really like to meet you. Anyone that spent some time to check out our site would know that 1st and foremost we are a friendly and enthusiastic club, which is 100% free and dedicated to the enthusiast.

I hope this settles things and stops things going off at a tangent or a slagg-fest.

Chris (founder of the MK2 Golf owners club)

Cheers dude. It's not a rethink though, we've always been open to all enthusiastic about the mk2. Just things were a bit confused. All clubs need to pull together as we're all a nice enthusistic bunch.

We've only been around for less than 10 months and have only 1100 members for a reason.

If you want to come along to our meet please feel free; I'll buy you a pint.
