Just had my Mk1 Golf MOT'd. Failed on "Blue Smoke from exhaust". Garage says it is probably the Valve Stem Seals. Car has been stood for 4 years, so seems likely. How much would this cost to get done by a garage? My garage said about a day, which I can't really afford. I am thinking about attempting it myself, but the list of tools you need is getting quite long. Has anyone done this before? Head on or off seems to be a big debate. I don't have a compressor so I guess it will have to be head off. Anyone near Tolpuddle who can give me a hand? Or give me a decent quote? |
