So ok, MOT time at the coldest part of the year it seems, joys. Least after replacing the advises of last year and a fuse or two and the odd bulb my dad brought her back with a pass. As normal thou, there is always a but and none of it reads english and talking to my dad often isn't easy so can you guys lend a hand on figuring out what i need to keep my car on the road? The main one that stubs me is 'Nearside (and Offside) front Macpherson strut has slight movement at the upper attachment' Anyone got a clue what this means along with what its talking about, father talked about the suspension unit when I asked him. The next in the list was to do with the power steering system having a corroded pipe or hose, this a home DIY job or handing the keys over to some one else? Thats it thou apart from the handbreak needing to be tighten and some minor welding. Thanks, Stainless. |

Agree with Luke, worn top mounts are easy enough to change but you'll need spring compressors otherwise they're gonna go into orbit when and if you can undo the top retaining nut, new top mounts are cheap though, and ditto on the pipe, depends if it's easy to get at. |

If the PAS pipe is between pump and reservoir access is good. If it is rack to pump or reservoir then its a pain but still doable at home but does mean your be on your back underneath the car. I may have a spare PAS pipe at home as well depending on which one you need. |

hey, thanks for all the replies, just need to get my hand on a welder as well to patch up two '10 pence' piece holes behind the front wheels both sides and seeing the state of the current hand break cable and dating what its worth to chuck a new one on. |
