Mist Could Not Pass
For as long as anyone can remember, gaming has been 1 player. Then, there was 2 player, and so on, until there were 8 vs 8 games going on all the time, and MMOs sprouting up everywhere. But, what if you just want to play with a few of your friends? And thus- the topic. Wouldn't it be awesome to just make a server for any video game, and if someone wanted to play on that server you would have to get permisssion from an admin? That would be cool. I mean, wouldn't Dragon Age be much more fun if you had 3 of your friends backing you up? Indeed it would, indeed it would.

That would be fun and at least one game has done that. Borderlands... other then that I am not sure.

Dragon age had conversations held by party members that often ended hilariously. That wouldn't happen if every 5 seconds Alistair screamed "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU, YOU FUCKING DOUCHEBAG? GET MY FLANK!!! GET MY FUCKING FLANK!!!

That actually made me laugh to picture. XD

Personally, I've never done much MMORPG playing, but my brief stint with Guild Wars taught me that I'm not like other players. Watching the cutscenes was fun for me, since I loved the stories, but often everyone else wanted to skip them, and would often get irate with me for NOT skipping.

But if one could set up a personal server and play with friends, whether it's just to grind and loot, or to have fun with the story, or heck- even roleplay a bit? I'd LOVE that. Especially something based in the Dragon Age universe, depending on how that sort of game would be set up. It would be really fun!

Sadly, not a lot of multiplayer games (that I've played, which is admittedly a fairly limited selection anyway) are co-op, and are often PVP instead.

I would have to play with those I know would appreciate the cinematic/story oriented aspects of a game like Dragon Age...I couldn't hole heartedly skip through parts of game like Dragon Age

Me either. I can skip through dialogue, but those cutscenes were amazingly done and rendered, and tell such a wonderful story.

I would love a game that actually encouraged roleplaying, getting into character, on a MMORPG scale. Maybe if people could become "DMs" of their own servers, or something, but that would be a lot of work for a game.

A good game takes work, especially if your giving players options to DM. From my experience, good RPGs don't have multiplayer. It makes me think that a co-op aspect would lessen the integrity of the single player campaign.

I don't know if you have heard of this but Guild Wars 2 is coming out in 2011... It sounds like it is going to be good. The game is gona be a living breathing world, if you chose to not go and help townspeople save their town the next time you visit that city, It will be a enemy outpost....

Sounds fun. Still more games should have co-op

I hadn't heard that much about it, but then, I don't really keep my finger to the pulse of the gaming world. I technically only discovered Dragon Age back in January of this year, and even then it was a struggle to get my hands on a copy.

It depends on what they do with Guild Wars 2, just like it depends on what they plan for Dragon Age 2 (I'm still iffy on the concepts they're offering there), but that sounds very promising indeed. :D
