If that happened, then it's sexual harassment and should be reported, though good luck with anyone taking it seriously (because, well, rape culture and whatnot). If it is taken seriously, then good. That's not an appropriate thing to do, and even if he's normally a "nice guy", doing that crosses a serious line and he needs to learn it's not acceptable. If it didn't happen, then shame on you for posting this in a cry for attention, because this is a serious subject. |

Telling someone to report it, but there being a good chance nothing will be done about it anyway is not all that encouraging. Blame it on whatever the hell you think justifies that sort of behavior, but it is always more constructive to give ideas to victims of harassment, not just saying "lolnothingwillbedoneanywayprobably". |

*sigh* Well, yeah. That's my pessimism leaking in. I suppose I was going more for, "Even if it doesn't work, report it anyway, because it's important that you feel able to." But you're right, saying "it likely won't work" isn't very encouraging at all. Report it, and persist in it if people argue with you about it. Like I said, it's important that the message be sent, even in small ways, that stuff like that doesn't slide. |

I think Christmas, and the attached season are all about doing what you can for your fellow man. Notice how everyone is more apt to give during that season? The problem with this, is that it localizes the majority's concern for situations to that season. Though, even if once a year you give, that's still something. Religious beliefs aside, it really is a good time to spend with your family and/or friends, and share a bond of mutual affection. I know dysfunctional families exist, and forcing members of said families into one room to pretend to get along is not an enjoyable event for anyone. The focus should be being around those you truly care about, and those who truly care for you. And the food. |
