Just a curiosity question. I found before (generally highschool / college), I'd need at LEAST 8 hours of sleep or I was dead (maybe not 8 hours in a row, but about 8 hours a day).

I find now with my job I normally get around 4-5 hours or so, and can function fairly well on that. Granted, normally one day every two or three weeks, I'll pop a sleeping pill, pass out...wake up in 8 hours or so, and pop another (generally around 16 hours of sleep).

Hi there,

I can do all right with between 6 and 7 hours of sleep... assuming I don't try too hard to fall asleep, which is another story altogether. Sleep well and have a good evening.

Minimum of 2 hours per 48 hour cycle. I prefer to get at least 6 though.

Ditto. I need a new CPAP, as my current one is a decade old and sounds like a truck.

I usually sleep more than 8 hours a day....I have to wake up before 12 either way because dog wakes me up and wants to go out.

For me, the amount of sleep hours don't matter as much as when I go sleep. If I went to sleep at 2 in the morning and wake up at 7 or 8, it's still better than going to sleep at 4 or 5 and waking up around 12. If I go to sleep very late (or very early, depending on how you wanna see it :P) I will most likely always wake up with a headache no matter how many hours sleep I get.

For some reason my body rejects more than 5-6 hours of sleep. Either I'll spontaneously wake up for no reason, or if I DO manage to sleep longer, I'll get a massive headache and feel sluggish the whole day through. On just 5-6, I'm way more alert and energetic.

Of course, that could just be the sleep dep compensating for itself. Hrm.
