The future....; what will it bring?

Mist Could Not Pass
I think we've all been there on a boring night imagining we are commander shepard on board the normandy, flying through the galaxy. But will we ever reach this point? I belive one day we will reach the point of traveling at the speed of light and will have hover-car's and hover-boards etc it is only a matter of time, i mean look at the advances in technology in the last 50 years or so. However will it be as it is in hollywood?

Space travel - This is something that is contravercial in the eyes of science because of the physic's of space. Since space is a vacume a force is needed the push an obect in a direction. so space-craft will have to have thrusters all over them and not as glomorus or nimble as in our wild star-wars like dreams.

Gaxelxy explaoration - We may find life in the universe one day but will be be able to travel round step on there planets around other stars? yes we will i have no doubt of this the human race wil one day be spread out amongst the stars. however the nearst star to Earth (discluding our sun) is 4.22 light years so it is possible to get there (if we learn to travel at light speed.) so we can get there a live on other planet (if the habbitable) however is is really a one way trip, not like mass effect sadly :(

So how do you guys see the future being? I'll leave you with one more thought. If time travel is developed in the future, why have we not ever seen anyone from the future?

Maybe, but Nasa is getting budget cuts while the US is supporting Biblical museums and random wars.

This, I think would actually be impossible. Light travels at the speed of 300,000,000 meters per second (300,000 kilometers) and as I see it, we cant recreate that speed. But we might get somewhere close.

but yes, I do also believe in the things that we've all seen on the movie screens. I mean, there are already alot of prototypes for such things.

Yes you are correct, sorry:

"The faster you go, the harder it is to get yourself going faster still. As you near the speed of light, your weight heads for infinity, which makes it infinitely hard to go faster. So while we might reach 99% of light-speed, or even 99.99999%, the last little bit will forever lie just beyond our grasp."

I think one of the biggest hurdles is getting past space radiation to keep people alive and well long enough to find a new planet.

I've always found the speed of light an interesting concept honestly. Do you travel back in time?

If we go with the idea of relativity, time moves slower as you move faster. So if you theoretically could move faster than the universe, what happens to time? Ultimately, it's beyond my understanding to really comprehend. Still interesting

Also what would a space-craft chase at near or at the speed of light look like. could you even see it? These are questions for a boring day.

(I'm not trying to advertise for anyone, just answer a question.)

Hop to 3:15 and he will explain time relative to the speed of light. I actually don't know where he gets this from or if he's right at all, but what the hell! :D

You don't go back in time, you go to the present.

So are you saying your locked in a state where time doesn't pass? Or that you instantly arrive at your destination like an instant teleport or what?....

Hi there,

I love the concept of time travel, especially when the idea of going backward in time is raised. The 'grandfather paradox' - can it be avoided? Going forward in time ... I'm reminded of a Stephen King short story - can't remember its name right now - where some folks on a plane wound up going into a reality that was a few hours different from our own reality.
Good writer, by the way. Thanks for your time.

Earth would be swallowed up by the Sun.

He is actually right. From what I understand, when you near the speed of light your gravitational pull can become like that of a black hole, the only thing keeping you from condensing into a point being your speed. In addition, gravity drags on time, the more gravity you amass the slower time gets as it drags past you. At least that's what I've found.
