I Just Got Nommed
I just had a discussion with a "friend"...and i need to vent.

I play burnt games, on a flashed console.I know this is wrong, and if i could, i would buy original game copys. But... i just can`t, in my country there are no legitimate videogame store. The few stores that sell original copys, do so at prices that are simply too high, about 143$.

I`ll edit this tomorrow, getting to sleepy to write coeherently

[Edit] Continuation

Another thing is that, about four years ago, back in the ps2 era, i didn`t care, i thought that all games were "original copys" .... i just did not care.

And then my parents gave me X360 as a christmas gift. My xbox came flashed,my xbox came flashed out of the box. I had to learn about burnt dvds, updates, Jtags, ban waves, game waves, title updates, and still, i feel like im missing something. I can`t play online, i have to run my games thru a dvd checker just to be sure that said dvd wont make my xbox useless, i have to tell my brothers "you can`t play this game"...and the worst thing is... i enjoy the games. I enjoy playing game that i did not pay for....

70% of my country`s copy rights are just ignored, have you seen black swan?, i watched it 2 weeks before the official release, dubbed. It`s just fucked up.

Ok, that`s it, hope you enjoyed tiping rage...i need a coke.

Basically the same thing where I live. The game prices are just way too high. But, If i really like a game I go out and buy it to support the comapnies.

I.e. Portal, dragon age, assassins creed series etc.

So, I mostly pirate to be able to have an "extended" demo and then i buy the game if i like it.

game prices are horrible here too....that's why I very rarely buy games and mostly play mmos. It's hard to justify spending 60€ (a bit less than $90) on a game when it's almost 2 weeks worth of food for a single person.

1. Why exactly can't you play online? Because I have a burnt copy of both mw2 and TF2 which works perfectly online. you just have to stealth patch the games. (I am not typing this to get him to pirate more, incase that's against the rules).

2.dvd checker? Like Abgx360? A program that checks if the game is verified, if stealth patched and region code? That takes like 5min.

3. Almost every game can be found in every region code. You should be able to find one for your console.

1. New ban wave, and the fact that we don`t have microsoft point cards (that sounds incredibly wrong)

2. You`ve got to put yourself in my shoes, what maybe 5 minutes to you, it`s around 45 minutes for me.

3. Good point. Most games are in region free. Edit

1. The "ban wave", aka AP2.5 (Anti-Piracy 2.5), Does not apply to all games. Actually most new games doesn't actually have it... Though I'm starting to think that this isn't what you meant with "ban wave" since AP stops Offline play too. I got flagged thanks to Fable 3 but I'm not banned yet (this was a couple of months ago) and i can still play online.

2. I... Don't know what you mean... Are you saying you have a crappy PC or that time goes slower in Venezuela.. (I assume the first option :P)

3. I know. I'm good :D

Yep game prices are pretty steep, but the real annoying thing is that they don't actually need to be. If retailers were less greedy then everyone, in any country, could buy games at LEAST 50% cheaper than what they are now and developers would still get a very good deal. *Sigh* If only.

They should start selling more digital downloads for cheaper. They'd save money on box art, dvds, Manual prints, postage etc etc. Many game companies do sell digital downloads but they charge just as much for them as for a game in a box. Greedy bastards. I do think most people would pirate less if the prices came down. Most people I know who pirate do it because they don't feel they can afford to buy a game they dont know whether they'll like or not.

yea, I almost never buy a game without having played it first (unless I know the game is good). Because I don't feel like spending a sh*tloads of money on a game that i don't like.

Hint - demos, reviews, screenshots, gameplaye videos, LPs. I don't think that lack of information is an excuse really

All games doesn't have demos.

IMO A review apply mostly to the person writing it, since everybody doesn't feel the same about a game.

screenshots... How would that tell you if you're going to like the game or not?

Gameplay videos and LP's is varied IMO. For example, I was watching Toegoffs Arcanum LP and thought I would give it a try because it looked fun etc. But after playing for awhile I thought the game was boring.
