Im okay with the 49ers drafting a DE. They need help in QB though.

Also why did the Panthers waste the #1 pick on Cam Newton?

Tons of media hype, heisman winner, its a lethal combo. Personally, I don't think he's going to be all that great. He's got tons of athleticism, sure, but he's gotta be a pocket passer to be a successful QB in this league. Plus his running and scrambling will get him hurt fast.

Panthers probably shouldn't have taken him, but they kinda got suckered into it. Its the same deal when Vince Young hit the scene a few years back.

He has the potential to be good with a better team. With the team that he is on, he could become the next, J- Bust Russel.

I do not want to see another one of those at all.

Oh man russel was horrible, way to go al davis :D

But yeah, Cam Newton can be good if he plays on a better team for sure, but as of now, he's a bit of a risk IMO. If he stays healthy and can learn to make better passes downfield, he can be good. But if he takes off as soon as his #1 read isn't open, he could get hurt, bad.

I'm guessing that the 49ers are going to try to take Mallet or Dalton during the second round. Though they probably also thought that Ponder would still be around in the second round.

As for Newton, he probably has the most potential of any of the QBs. He could play like McNabb did in his prime. Or like McNair did in his prime. But like any drafted QB, I'm there's of course the chance that he'll be a huge bust.

Weird Colin Kaepernick is the new QB hopefully he'll play better than A.Smith.

Its good for the 9ers because they can cut him if he sucks because hes a second rounder. They won't have a clinger qb who sucks thats taken in the 1st round so you have to play him eg: Smith.

Well because the Jets traded for Cromartie, they don't have a second round pick

Goddamnit, seeing some good OLB picks in this round, pretty bummed out hopefully somebody's left when the jets pick late third round. Not holding my breath, but maybe a decent safety prospect will be there.

Oh well, without Cromartie we don't win the wild card round in Indy, and don't go on to embarrass the patsies in New England.

That was glorious.

As usually, I think the Raven's GM, Newsome has done a great job. A couple talented young recievers, a solid right tackle, a good d-lineman and a possibly long term back up to Flacco.

I think the jets did good with the sparse, late-round picks that they had. They upped their d-line big time with Wilkerson and Ellis (provided he doesn't go to jail for 20 years for this assault case) drafted a RB which could be used as a relief back to Shonne Green, and got a PR/KR wide receiver who's good in the slot.

It sucks when you're team losses a conference championship (twice in a row hurts more, but Toe's eagles lost THREE in a row) because the picks are so damn high.

Oh well, the jets addressed a glaring need by upping the D line and got some insurance picks. Hopefully they can get a saftey/OLB through free agency.

If there will ever be a Free Agency because of the Lockout.

Well, Chris Prosinski, FS from Wyoming went in the 4th to Jacksonville. Much higher than any Cowboy fan thought he would go, plus, he's a Wyoming native. And if nothing else, he'll be great on special teams (4.3 40, solid tackler, and good at stopping the run. Even outran TCU's Jeremy Kerley last year when returning a fumble for a TD).
