So....you guys know/have that midsummer tradition where a girl goes out on midsummer eve, picks 7 different kinds of flowers and puts them under her pillow, so she could dream about the man she would marry?

Many years ago, as a young child, I did just that. I had been doing so many years before (without dreaming anything) so I hadn't really expected anything this time either (I think......could also have been that I had the biggest crush on some guy and desperately wanted to dream of him). I went out, picked 7 kinds of flowers, put them under my pillow and didn't say a word for the rest of the evening (that's part of the tradition, if you speak you break the "spell"). I went to sleep and had the most realistic dream ever. I had a dream where I was walking down the stairs in the apartment complex we lived in when i was a child. When I got to the bottom of the stairs, a hole opened up in the floor and the devil came out of it. He took my hand and dragged me down to hell and told me I'd be his wife. After that I've had a pretty negative views on marriage.......

Just wanted to share this story since midsummer is coming up soon. Enjoy.
Holy shit, lol. That's like something out of a horror film. I dig it.

Very nice shoes Beastman! Well, as far as the weekend goes, I'm probably going to do a load of laundry and read for most of the time. Have you given any thought about hobbies or walking a dog? Volunteering is also a great way to meet ppl and spend time. Gaiz? How do you fill up a weekend?

Sorry to change the subject real quick, but just wanted to say that I graduated yesterday. While I don't personally think it's anywhere near as special as most people make it out to be, I think it's at least worth mentioning. So now awaits months of waiting to see if I'll spend the next 5 years in school again, or if I'll sit at home for a year, doing nothing.

I've applied for several universities, and if I get in, I'll study for another 5 years, if not, I'll live at home for the following year, hopefully working with something until I can apply again.

I still think the best piece of advice is that girls aren't on some higher tier that you are. They're not goddesses, they're human beings with the same thoughts and decisions they make. Granted, yea, you usually have to think of a potential love interest to be "out of your league," but sometimes, they're not so much as you think.
This is so true. You will never be comfortable around someone you view as above you (or if they view you as below them). You need to find someone who makes you feel like you are their equal. And it's like monstar said... don't set out to find a girl friend. Set out to find an interesting person and a friend.

So yesterday my sister goes " you know you dress real sharp, maybe you can actually get a girlfriend now". Tremendous boost for me, my sister hates my guts, lol.

You know though, I've said before in the spam thread that I kinda like this girl at work and to be perfectly honest, I'm totally terrified to talk to her like alone in the break room, but man next time we're in there alone (which happens, but not often) I'm just gonna go for it, try and keep it super casual and cool, and be pretty quick about it. I think she knows who I am, we're introduced (though it was a while ago) and I usually say hi or whatever if I see her like in the hall. Also important to note that she says hi to me like if she sees me, and yeah that's just her being nice but she is acknowledging my existence!

It's like impossible to tell if she likes me or not, I've seen her kinda giving me these looks and like some times she's really nice and she gives me this smile... and then other times I feel like she doesn't even know I exist, it's just really frustrating and difficult.

Yeah, odds are she has a boyfriend but you know I don't really care at this point, I'm gonna talk to her because I want to really conquer this demon of freezing up when trying to talk to a girl I like. It's been eating away at me and I just gotta deal with it.

And not for nothing, I look pretty damn good when I get dressed up for work, so she's definitely checked me out before, and even if she really wasn't I'm operating on the assumption she was because ya gotta believe in yourself, and I do even though sometimes I get cold feet. I think I'm a catch, and more importantly I'm a good dude and I really just want to get to know her better.

Whatever happens, it'll be a good experience and if I keep it cool and casual maybe it opens up the door for more conversations, you never know. I'm scared as hell but I'm going to do it.

Okay so I'm iff the ledge a bit here, easier said than done to talk to her but I'm gonna lick my wounds and go for it again, maybe as soon as tomorrow.
