Hahaha, I was wondering how the show would pull off that scene. Man, they did not disappoint. :)

A few notes:

-Roose Bolton rules. "A naked man has few secrets. A flayed man has none."
-Fuck you, Joffrey. Seriously. Bronn summed it up best: "There's no cure for being a c**t."
-Harrenhal and Qarth look amazing
-Renly...you're an idiot.
-The Tickler's indifference to the torture was damn creepy. "Is there gold in the village? Silver? Gems? Where is the Brotherhood?" Side note: I'm glad they're not writing out the Brotherhood Without Banners.

All in all, probably the most satisfying episode so far.

Seriously, who the f**k walks in to a room with two prostitutes and has one of them beat the s**t out of the other. Who I ask you, WHO?

Dany really hasn't done much at all, she just kinda wanders around with Lawrence of Arabia (I have no idea who that knight is) and doesn't do a whole lot, though that city at the end looked nice.

Barring one incredible scene, Dany's chapters are pretty uneventful in A Clash of Kings. The knight's name is Jorah, by the way. He's the son of Lord Commander Jeor Mormont of the Night's Watch.

Are you having trouble following this season in comparison to season 1? Because some of my friends who haven't read the books (along with others in other forums I frequent) are a little confused.

Eh kind of, but the thing that I don't like about this season, as compared to season 1 is they split up the narrative way too much IMO. I'm guessing its not a very eventful book, at least in the early stages, because we've mostly had machinations and schemes, and very little action and resolution.

I'd rather they ignore certain characters for whole episodes and focus on a few per episode, that way more things happen. But its still fairly early in the season. I'm sure it will get better.

I kinda agree with beastman in terms of the narrative, it's a bit overwhelming at times. I for one was happy to see Tywin in this episode -the entrance on the white horse was pretty awesome- I think he'll be one of the -if not the- biggest player this season. He's really clever in the way he picks out Arya, It's obvious he knows she's a girl and that he might even know who she is and if he does I think he'll try to use her as in order to trade with Rob so that he can get Jaime. This was the best episode so far imo (and is it me or is Jeoffrey becoming more and more mad kind-like? As in not simply a little disturbed but like genuinely crazy).

Is it just me, or does Joffrey need to get slapped a few hundred more times?

I'm actually enjoying it. Never read the books and am following it perfectly.

Solid episode today. That warlock who showed up at that part was creepy as hell. Gotta say though, I don't really buy what Dany's doing. I mean, I get its her claim to the throne, but when she talks about the dothraki and all that, it seems so disingenuous. Who gives a crap about the horse people, conquer because its your right, not because you like the people who never looked on you as one of their own and who, for the most part, abandoned you. I never understood her allegiance to them, it makes no sense to me.

Stannis man, I like the way this guy thinks. What a deal this guy scored, he got to have sex with melissandre, and kill off his semi-annoying brother. Lucky man. Although Renly wasn't that bad, he was pretty stupid, and Brienne is just a horrific character. Like Nyaneve and Faile bad, thank god she's had like 5 minutes of screen-time thus far.

The wall stuff is interesting, though I don't buy this whole white walker threat, mostly because its still very much on the peripheral, taking a far second to the contest for the iron throne.

Theon's still kind of a douche, that french guy arya was talking too (the creepy soldier) scares the crap outta me, and tryion is still cool but kind of a douche because he's protecting his incestuous relatives because they're his 'family', and even though he hates them he'll still scheme for them.

Also, even though it was from last week, why is Robb Stark hitting on a lady when she's amputating some guys arm? Can't you find a more, I dunno, appropriate time to flirt? Seriously man, the poor guys getting his arm cut off, and he puts the moves on lady who's cutting his limb. What the hell is up with that?

The way Renly died was just... stupid. Having him be killed by a shadow I think is kinda demeaning for the character that he was. As for Stannis: he's weak. I expected some really awesome things from him, he's a renowned military general and I thought he'd shake things up or maybe even challenge Renly to a battle or a one-on-one dual but instead he took the easy route and gave in Melissandre and her witchcraft/vodoo tactics. Sure it was smart -after all Renly had more men- but it was also really cowardly coming from a character that's meant to be strong.

*snip*
Yeah, Pyat Pree is the name of the warlock. Guy looked like an alien.

Asha/Yara really comes off like a bitch compared to her book counterpart. I'm sorry but that's how I'm calling it.

Robb's whole scene with "Talisa" was pretty lolworthy. Robb just creepily stares at her while she's sawing the guy's leg off. Wrong time dude.

It's funny the way the TV show changed it up by combining two shadow baby events into one. In the books, we never get his POV so we don't rightly know but from what he tells Davos, Stannis intended to fight Renly in battle. So did Melisandre go behind his back? *shrug*

Same goes for me, although watching the series have also gotten me interested in reading the books as well... just haven't got around to do it yet :p
Btw. i was told by a friend that they were planning to do six (yes six) seasons of GoT. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this or if it is just speculation?

There's a lot of books, so it wouldn't surprise me if they even go to 7 seasons. Its a popular show, so I'm sure the support is there for an extensive run.

I've been told that apparently this season has already made a huge dent in the events of the second book so far, i'm guessing this season might contain sections from the third book as well? But I haven't read the books so I can't tell for myself.

Can someone explain a little about what's going on beyond the wall? I've never read the books but so far I've been following most of the plot very easily, but the latest scenes with the Night's Watch standing around talking about horns and looking at the snow in the distance didn't really register for me. Were they watching someone they were supposed to meet, and realized that these people were training Wildlings?

Another thought... the show hasn't really featured Wildlings up to this point. They're humans, right? From the bits and pieces provided by the show I got the sense they were just more tribal and destructive in some way.

No spoilers about the future with Wildlings please!
