Well, the 1st season focused on the girls at the school. This season, the first several episodes at least, focus on Yuuji's background. Let's just say his life was considerably worse than the girls' was, and losing his sister was the icing on the cake.
Speaking of this, did you watch the OVA, Grisaia no Meikyuu? It's apparently a full-on story-OVA, although I think it focuses on some backstory stuff, but still should be worth watching.
Part of it...

I don't do well with overly graphic stuff.

Some anime I am enjoying this season:
Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo- Most harem anime have a "nervous" MC. This one, not so much. Hell, he's already kissed 3 different girls and 1 boy (the last one not really of his own free will) on multiple occasions. Just a funny series.

Denpa Kyoushi- One of those "eccentric teacher takes on rehabilitating problem/bullied/special kids with comedic spins" type of series, but instead of the "tough teacher with dark past" it's a prodigy that has already graduated college at a young age. Young enough for his younger sister to still be in high school.

Re-Kan- If you ever watched Paranorman and liked it, you'll like this show. As the main character, who has the ability to see and communicate with ghosts, does so in a similar way. Interesting characters, backgrounds, and some pretty funny gags.

Shokugeki no Soma- I know some people aren't into the ecchi thing, but this show (and especially the manga) are really more about cooking/slice of life comedy than anything. I admit, the show got me interested, and the manga got me hooked.

Ansatsu Kyoushitsu- This is an awesome series. Comedy, overcoming adversity, interesting characters...

Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka- Think MMORPG turned anime, with deities from mythos from all around the world acting as the heads/founders of various guilds.

Nisekoi 2- Just as good as season 1. Really enjoying it!

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku- Not as much comedy as the last season, but still good. Kind of goes to show the flip side/realistic (in some aspects) of most romantic comedies. Like not everything is sunshine and daisies.

Punchline- Yeah, it's weird, and I'm still not real sure about the plot, though some of it is coming together. But I swear, if it ends up like Magikano, I will be pissed.

Etotama- Basically a gag series that doesn't take itself too seriously. Basically, you have the Chinese Zodiac turned into girls with their corresponding animal features (like dragon is a girl with dragon horns, cow has cow horns, etc), and you have a cat spirit (who is kind of stupid, selfish, and a schemer) trying to get into it. If you want something that is just fun stuff, and even breaks the 4th wall at times, take a look at it.

Ore Monogatari- You know how most romantic comedies never even have the MC get together with a girl? Yeah, this one got that over with in the first few episodes. The MC is a big, burly, athletic guy. Rather dense, but about as selfless as can be. Quite popular amongst his male classmates, but feared due to his looks by most females in general. His best friend, on the surface, looks like the typical "pretty boy", but always looks out for his friend first and foremost. Including rejecting any and all girls who make fun of his friend behind his friend's back. Finally, the female MC is one of the few females that is not scared of the MC. In fact, she falls for him when she first meets him. Honestly, she and the MC are quite a bit in-sync. And both quite innocent (though the male MC can be a bit crude at times, but who isn't?). Light hearted comedy that got the whole relationship thing out of the way early on.

Starting to get into Anime again... I just finished watching Ouran High School Host Club and it made me realize I've missed the silly Japanese humor.

What site do you guys normally use to watch anime?
Really late response but my main two places to go to is Crunchyroll and Gogoanime.

Ninja Slayer - Episode 3 Impressions - (6/10):
I mean... There really is no other way to look at it other than "this is what a revenge ninja story would look like if the most stereotypical weeaboo made it". Still, I personally don't think it's bad, although I definitely don't think everyone will enjoy this type of thing. It's also not like "haha, that's hilarious" most of the time like certain other comedy shows, which is why it gets a 6 and not a 7 from me. But yea, you really have to watch this for yourself to have any idea of what's going on.

I'm checking out Sound! Euphonium. Watched the first two episodes so far, and Asuka is quickly becoming my favorite character of the season.

Grisaia No Meikyuu: Caprice no Mayu 0 - (8/10):
I've got to say, this was really good. Not only does it set up for future events (when Yuuji's past catches up to him), but I thought it did a very good job of explaining just how fucked up Yuuji's childhood was, and why he turned out like he did. Spending an entire 50 minutes on this allowed them to fit a lot of stuff that would've otherwise gotten lost if this was just a normal flashback episode, and as a result, it also had a nice pacing, without anything that really felt like "filler". Had it been possible, I would've of course preferred this quality for all the character's backstories, but that's never going to happen. This has definitely gotten my hopes up for Grisaia no Rakuen though.

Told ya it was messed up. Rakuen further expands on his past.

Sabagebu! - Final Impressions - (7/10):
Finally finished this, and it was pretty solid throughout. I don't watch a lot of these "sketch-based" comedy shows, but I actually thought this one was really funny. Partly, I think, because of how self-aware it is, and how good the narrator was. In later episodes it starts focusing a bit less on the gun-aspect of it all, but I guess that was kind of ok, since it changes it up a bit.

I finished all of Little Busters. 39 episodes, extremely similar to Clannad/Angel Beats. I'd recommend it if you liked either of those.

Watched (well, re-watched) Beelzebub. Pretty funny show that doesn't take itself too seriously. Action, comedy, supernatural. An easy to watch show with some plot (very little "ecchi" other than a pool episode, which wasn't even used for it. In fact, it teases those moments, then turns them upside down in comical ways). A show good for a laugh. Basically, a delinquent in his first year of high school, who was known as "The Rampaging Ogre" in Junior High (his name his Oga) for plowing through anyone that would pick a fight with him, is by the river when a big guy comes by floating down the river. Oga yanks him out, chops him on the head, and then the old guy splits open and out pops a baby. Not just any baby, but the heir to the Demon World, Beelzebub IV. Hilarity ensues.

Yeah, you can definitely tell that it's made by the same people. I liked it. Kinda wish it would have done the Clannad thing though and done at least one alt universe episode for a different route. Or an ova for showing different routes. Still, the characters were all pretty solid and likable. I'd recommend it.

Watching more of Sound! Euphonium and by episode 8... they aren't even trying to be subtle anymore with the ship bait between Kumiko and Reina.

Danganronpa: The Animation (Final Impressions) 6/10

Overall I enjoyed the show, but it wasn't exactly good. The horror mystery murder aspect was great... when they actually did it. Most of the time, it felt rushed and all the characters usually got ignored. I don't even remember half of their names. The show did a great job of leading up to the final point, but that also turned into disappointment. The art during some of the scenes, mainly the trial ones, were kinda off to try to make it seem like more of a game, but it was just completely out of place for the context of the scenes. The execution scenes were great though, even if you did feel bad for the characters getting dealt the hand. I'd say watch it if you're looking to kill 4 hours without trying to get much out of it, but that's it. Wouldn't really recommend it otherwise.

Thinking of re-watching Working seasons 1 and 2. Why? Because season 3 will be airing!

Also, I dropped Punch Line. Why? Time paradox BS stuff. And half way through the season, they are basically redoing the 1st half from a slightly different point of view. So I go "Nope."

And Ore Monogatari is a nice change of pace from the usual anime you see. For one, the guy who is the more attractive one and in any other series (with one exception that I can think of) would be the "picture perfect guy" has no interest what so ever in dating because it looks like a pain. He and the main character have a "bromance", so to speak (both straight, but quite close otherwise), and look out for each other to a great degree. Though the best friend (not the main character) will set things straight if things tend towards the typical anime trope (like the whole romance misunderstanding BS that happens so much). It's also quite light hearted. Tied for my favorite series of the season with Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku.
