Gangsta. - Final Impressions - (7/10):
I hate to say that this is probably the most disappointing show of this season. Starting off by introducing this crime-ridden city where gangsters and outlaws rule, and then building on top of that with the Twilights was really cool, and introducing Alex as a "main character" worked well on so many levels. Introducing the case that lays way for the final story arc wasn't bad in itself either, but I felt like at this point it started feeling like nothing was really happening. And it wasn't like nothing was happening, a lot of stuff were actually happening, but it just felt so very slow, perhaps because of the insane amounts of various flashbacks and all that they had for all of the characters (even secondary ones). And then comes the ending, and the episode is like 50% exposition, a flashback, and practically like an unfinished fight scene. I've seen some shitty endings in my days, but this is definitely up there. The one and only reason this isn't rated lower than 7 is because of the first half, which I really, really liked. Honestly, so very disappointing...

Watched the first episode of Lance n Masques. It was okay. I kind of chuckle whenever they say "Knights of the World" because it sounds like "Knightso ov ze Worldo!" And Japanese depictions of European weapons almost always baffle me (they have an already over sized lance grow bigger for example) and the main protagonist has a "white knight" complex and turns into one of those characters you want to punch in the mouth because they are so cheesy.

In short, the first episode isn't bad, if you don't mind a lot of cheesiness.

Well, looks like there is no chance of a Gangsta continuation now. The studio that made Gangsta (and made Samurai Champloo, Michiko and Hatchin, Hayate the Combat Butler, and The World Only God Knows) went bankrupt.

Oh... I knew Manglobe had filed for bankruptcy, but I totally thought that Madhouse had made Gangsta. That's actually really sad, because the ending to Gangsta is not an ending whatsoever.

A couple of those series don't really have an ending either. Though I think Hayate is still going, in all fairness.

Owarimonogatari's first episode was 48 minutes long, and it did a great job of setting up Ougi's character and Araragi's relation to a new character. Interested to see what direction they're taking it.

Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace - Dropped @ Episode 2 - (5/10):
Honestly, I just can't see this as a good show, and especially not a good mystery show at that. Everything that bothered me in the first episode seem like they're gonna be a constant thing in the series, and that first case was just really, really bad. One of my biggest gripes with it was that the "clues" that solve the case for them are things that they just make up at the time of the "solution revelation". Seriously, if you went back to watch the episodes, knowing everything they use to solve the case, then you wouldn't spot a single thing, because there's nothing that you as a viewer can find. I also really hate the characters. The girl who was the culprit in the first case was just plain stupid, and the guy who follows the MC around is so retarded it hurts. He yells at people for things that you should not yell at people for, and acts like he's the "good guy" because of it. God.

I watched the first episode of Heavy Object. It wasn't bad per se, but it was very heavy in the exposition. Like half the episode was just one big info dump about the world and the technology. I get that hard scifi requires info dumps at times, but for a first episode that doesn't really hook people. The heavy exposition aside, the main character was likable enough, and I did like the base commander. However the pilot girl seems like obvious waifu bait meant to pander to otakus. I hope there ends up being more to her.

I just went back to check on Heavy Object, and the rating has dropped like crazy (now that it's actually been out for a bit), so if you're gonna be watching that, keep me updated on how it is.

Yeah, I'll check out a couple more episodes. I am a bit curious as to where it goes now that it's gotten the exposition out of the way.

Holy shit, there's a lot of stuff happening right now.

So Kizumonogatari (the last entry in the Monogatari series) finally got a release date, and it's January 8th. It's apparently going to be 3 parts, so Jan 8th is only for the first part.

SAO had a movie announced, which is going to be an anime-original written by the author of SAO (unless I totally misunderstood who that was). So it's going to be set in the same universe, but we don't know if it'll include the same characters or anything.

Accel World also had an announcement, for "Accel World - Infinite Burst". From what I gathered, it's supposed to be a side-story to the original series.

Now all we need is a date for Heaven's Feel...

Comet Lucifer - First Impression - (7/10):
Ok so, I don't really have any idea what's going on... The little I do understand is basically thanks to the pretty cryptic intro speech by the old dude. All I know is that there were pretty colors and then suddenly robots. But I have to admit that the show itself was actually decent. The characters seem to have somewhat natural interactions (most of the time), and I especially like Kaon. It'll be interesting to see just what kind of hero anime this turns into, and how big of a part the mecha have, since that might really be a hit or miss. I also really liked the OP.

One Punch Man - First Impression - (8/10):
This is way better than I expected it to be, and I expected this to be pretty awesome to begin with. It's funny, really well-animated (they both chose an artstyle that actually fits the series, and the fight scenes are so smooth), and it's seriously intense as fuck. The pacing was pretty fast, which actually fit this show well, and there wasn't a single point where I was even close to being bored in this episode. The OP also felt like it really fit the tone of the show. Now we just hope that they can keep this up for however many episodes this is going to be.

Not really into mecha, or war anime, but I'll give Comet Lucifer a few more episodes. And like you, not real sure what's going on. Starts off as kind of a futuristic slice of life with a scene or two of some random guys in mech suits with drills. Then the MC and a girl he knows fall down a big ass hole in the middle of town (seriously, that's a safety hazard if I've ever seen one), a giant crystal thing, crystal thing explodes and a girl pops out (actually expected that one), and then drill mecha pops in, almost appears to be concerned about kids, and then tries to off kids to get girl who popped out of crystal, then girl summons her own mech out of no where which then destroys drill mech, guy in charge of drill mechs gets his, and episode end.

Goes from one thing to another.

I watched the first episode of Kowabon. It's a series of horror shorts, with episodes about three minutes in length. The first episode managed its short time pretty well, and came off as kinda creepy. It was a ghost story using the typical long haired Japanese ghost. It's worth a quick look if you're into the horror genre.

The only thing that might be off-putting to some is that it uses a rotoscoping style of animation, in which animators basically copy images from a film reel, shot per shot. So it's kinda realistic but slightly distorted. It's not the prettiest to look at, but I think it can work well for dark and/or horror animation.

I saw the first episode of Osomatsu-san. I didn't really know anything about it, but then I caught a clip of it on tumblr, and it was completely insane, so I had to check the episode to see the context. Apparently it's a remake of an anime from back in the sixties (though there was a short revival of it from the 80s). The first episode was completely self aware with the characters hearing about their shot being brought back and then trying to figure out how to appeal to current anime fan. What followed was pretty amazing, as they did a parody of the school idol genre. I really have no idea what to expect from this moving forward but the first impression was a good one.
