Ore ga Ojousama Gakkou ni "Shomin Sample" Toshite Gets Sareta Ken- Ever wondered what it would be like to be essentially kidnapped by muscular, thrusting in your face guys, dropped off in front of a school in the middle of no where and told by a no-nonsense maid who really doesn't care for you that you are now the "gateway" for a secluded all-girl's school to see what "commoner" life is like? And had some actually believable reactions to it? So far, this is it. Oh yeah, and they all think (by mistake) that you are "not into women", but muscular guys (hence the kidnappers I guess), and if your secret gets out, they gonna chop your man bits off. 7/10. Funny, and so far no annoying tsundere girl (thankfully). Just the socially awkward girl who wants to be popular. And wants to do it by learning how to be a commoner. I'll see where it goes. |

Heavy Object: Episode 2. Well, it's certainly a big improvement over the first episode, but I still wouldn't call it good. Like, the first episode was a 5/10 and the second was a 6/10. The heavy exposition got replaced with soap opera-ish dialogue. The sound is pretty bad too, but I'll just blame that on the compression when it was uploaded to Funimations website. Also, and I know I should be used to this in anime, but ages are rediculous. The base commander is 18 but she looks like she's in her twenties and acts like she's in her thirties. And the Object pilot, the waifu character that gives bits of fanservice, is only 14... That's a bit off putting. Maybe this just stands out a bit more since this season has some shows with adult characters. One more also, and slight spoiler with this one, not a fan of how the main guy was trying to fight his own ethics about killing actual human beings, but then it immediately shows those humans as being completely evil to make it easy on him. I'm very tempted to just drop it now. Even if the source material was decent, and it does seem to have a strong fanbase so maybe it is, the anime itself has been a letdown. Yeah well, I guess I'll just skip out on Heavy Object altogether, it seems. Also, Sunny Day got subbed. It's the alternate "good" ending for UBW (where the anime ending was the "true" ending), and it was pretty good. Only 10 minutes long, so it didn't bring as much as the actual ending did, and tbh this feels like a more fan-servicy ending, but it is still an actual ending to the VN. I like the true ending more, though. |

Concrete Revolitou: Choujin Gensou - First Impression - (6/10): This was... weird. And if I hadn't read the synopsis beforehand, it would've been ever weirder. The thing is that it's not overly difficult to understand or anything, but it seems that for the most part they just don't care about explaining. However, the main thing about the episode for me was that there was a lot of jumping back and forth between two points in time. As we see more of the "past", we learn more about the characters in the "future", however it totally foregoes explaining the events that ACTUALLY lead up to that point. Sure, you could make an educated guess, but that's a pretty big part of the story missing right there. Who knows, maybe it's expanded upon in a future episode, which I doubt will have the same sort of jumpy disposition (hopefully). Other than that, it was decent enough. The artstyle is pretty colorful, and a bit "quirky", I guess. Anything else is just really hard to tell from just this one episode. --------------------------------- |

Rakudo no Kishi no Cavalry (just me or do a lot of series this season have longer names than usual?)- It's okay. Also very typical. And once again, an annoying tsundere character pops up. Decent action sequences, I'll give it that. Though the MC's reaction to walking in on the princess changing (another overly used trope) was better than most. Where most other MCs try (and fail horribly) to calm down the person by continuing what they were doing, he stops her, and tells her he'll strip so she won't be the only one in her underwear. He still gets slapped, but at least it's for a better reason than accidentally walking in on her. |

Just a thought but of all the anime that has been based on Light Novels, how many have actually been good? I remember that one of the anime reviewers on youtube (forget which) said awhile bad that all LN based anime sucks but people keep watching new ones at the start because 'the idea sounds good' or something like that. I was hard pressed to come up with ones that weren't considered disappointing (like Heavy Object and When Supernatural Powers Became Commonplace). Only one that came to mind was possibly the Index series. On another note, Studio Trigger announced its next series Kiznaiver, an original project like KlK was. http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2015/10/09-1/studio-triggers-new-original-tv-anime-project-kiznaiver-revealed |

Honestly, more than you'd think, probably. The thing is that it's just much more apparent how many bad shows there are (whether LN based or not) when watching weekly imo, and the fact that most LN-based shows that seem to get adapted now all seem to have the same harem/school/comedy type setup, really. But I mean, only going a little bit down my completed list of shows (like 1/4 of my list down) we already have: Fate/Zero (although it builds upon previously established universe) Kokoro Connect Mnemosyne (apparently) Monogatari Log Horizon (first season) Oregairu and like I said, the list probably goes on. So I personally don't think LN-based shows are any worse than manga-based or originals. |

Almost surprised that Katawa Shoujou hasn't been made into one yet, but it was not made in Japan, is a free game, and would require quite a few people agreeing to it. Though I must say that Millbee's play through of it was quite entertaining. If you haven't seen it, check it out, he makes it even more entertaining. Like giving each character a "unique" voice. |

Katawa Shoujo was a visual novel. Also, There's no distinct path that they would be able to take since there's no main "female" protagonist, just five different basically equal ones. |

Close enough. Though a lot of people like the Lily route over the others, and I can see why. And it's not like no anime has ever been adapted from VNs before anyways. |

I still don't think the game would be suitable in anime form... Just how it plays out and what not, with most of the game inner monologue by the main character makes it kinda off to me. Lily's would probs be the best tho. |

Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid- Yeah, this is just straight up fan service. 25 minutes or so of it. Tags for it so far? yuri, ecchi, action, magical girl Plot? A whole lot of "plot" but not much to the story. In a nutshell? Girl gets sent to island filled with girls. Half the girls turn into weapons for the other half by being sexually aroused. Girl's partner doesn't say much. Main girl, when turned on, turns into sword for partner girl. And there are various perverts already. Yeah. |

Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru episode 2 A more recent case, and one that is quite tragic. Not a fan of the bone parade thing, but otherwise, I liked it. And "shonen" turned out to be a black belt of all things. Who knew. At least he's no weakling, like many other leads in mystery series tend to be. Will keep watching. |
