Lol the thing I found funniest about Fairy Tail was how opponents or watchers would always say the line "So this is what a Fairy Tail wizard is like" or something similar.

I guess I should watch this fairy tail anime...

Luckily, I haven't seen a whole lot of animes that "jump the shark" so to speak, at one point or another. I guess one would DBZ after the Cell saga when things just got stupid. Like Gohan going to high school and krillin having hair and a baby with an android.

Now that I think about it, everything after the cell saga, including GT was awful.

I like animes with a kind of darker visual style and feel, shows like Cowboy Bebop, Ruroni Kenshin (Samurai X), The Big-O, Yu Yu Hakusho, Hellsing, etc. did a fantastic job of that.

It's great when animes delve a little into the darker side of human nature, and where most of the characters aren't two-dimensional, like "annoying girl who talks a lot!" and "shy girl with big boobs!" and "clueless, self-deprecating floppy-haired idiot male protagonist!"

I'll add a wink smiley so you guys don't get offended,

;)

You know, like every high school-based anime character ever...

Have you checked out Fate/Zero?

It's dark, it's mature, characters aren't two dimensional and there's no highschool.

It's everything you could ever want.

I'm definitely checking it out soon, just from a glance I like the visual style a lot.

My tastes in anime are just a little different, I just like pokin' fun at you guys a bit :D

Nah but seriously, it depends on how I'm feeling, every now and then I like me a good harem anime, I kinda liked Ah! My Goddess, it was cute.

I just finished watching the anime movie, Redline. Wow. It pretty much left me speechless at the end with how freaking epic it is. I know that word is thrown around a lot, but in this case, it truly fits.

First, a word on the animation, which is the true drawing point of this anime. It's made by Madhouse, the studio behind Death Note, Summer Wars, Texhnolyze, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, and Casshern Sins. If there's one thing these guys truly excel at, it's their artstyle and smooth animation, and in my opinion, this may be their best drawn feature. First off, it's hand drawn. Secondly, I swear this movie was them trying to push what could be done to the limit. This movie will have beautiful, and over the top scenes that'll leave you on the edge of your seat, and then will find a way to top that scene a couple minutes later. Here's the trailer if you want to get a taste of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2t26m_Q6ENo

Storyline. Its story isn't particularly deep. Honestly, it came off like a darker version of Speed Racer. You have this guy, JP, who wants to win the big race, Redline, at least once in his life. However, he's in debt to the mob, so, he had to help them fix races and thus hadn't been able to. Now though, he's stopped caring about them, and is going do his absolute best to win, along with his two mechanics (though the loyalties of one of them is questionable).

Characters. It has a pretty large cast. While they aren't particular deep in character, they have good chemistry, and are surprisingly likable.

Voice acting. The dub is pretty solid for this. JP is played by Patrick Seitz (Crow from Deadman Wonderland, Kenpatchi from Bleach, and Umehito from Ouran High School Host Club). And the female lead, Sonoshee Mclaren, is played by Michelle Ruff (Euphemia from Code Geass, Yoko from Gurran Lagenn, Rukia from Bleach, and Yuki from Melancholy of Haruhi).

I can't recommend this movie enough. If you like over the top spectacle and action, mixed with some lines that genuinely are laugh out loud funny, then it's definitely worth the price.

"So this is what a Fairy Tail wizard is like? I'm going to underestimate them to make my defeat look more poignant when I lose! *evil laugh*"

According to some japanese magazine, the Fairy Tail tv series is ending on March 30th.

For all I know, this could be fake tho, but might be worth posting.

I read the first 2-3 tomes of the manga a while back. And I didn't like it.

Never seen the anime though. And I don't plan to either.

Are they actually called "tomes"? Because that would be the best.
Also @Beast I kinda liked it up to a certain point. Watch it and see if you like it.

I liked it for the first 20 episodes. But then it just gets annoying, it feels like they have one flow chart for every episode, then they never deviate from that flow chart. But what annoys me most is that noone dies like at all, and all the bad guys turn good, no matter what.

Same. Just seems like a typical shounen to me.

I like it precisely because it's so cheesy and predictable. Sometimes I just need a show like that that's just completely easy on the mind.
