So, after much reluctancy I decided to watch the first episode of Kill la Kill (the new anime by Trigger)... And well...

I have to say, it was just awesome.

The artstyle is very unique, and it basically has the same humor as everything else by the people at Trigger. I mean, I didn't like TTGL at all, but I really feel like this may actually be pretty good... Hopefully...

Also, for some reason I recognize the Matoi's voice, like, a lot, but when I looked her up the only shows I've seen her in is Spice & Wolf (as Holo), and Oregairu (as the older sister), and well, neither of those have similar voices to Matoi, so idk...

Another fun fact is that the loli is voiced by same person who voiced Haruko in FLCL.

So I finished Watamote, Senyuu. 2 and Railgun S.

Watamote was pretty good, although it's not the kind of anime I would marathon, since it's (mostly) episodic.
Having read the manga, I thought they did a good job at adapting it. I was in fact rather surprised at the art style. Although it still has some of the standards for slice of life in high school animes (e.i. no fancy stuff like in Bakemonogatari), they did some neat things with the lighting and colors.
Another surprising element was the EDs since there are a lot of them (like 6 or something, for a 12 episode series, I think that's quite a lot).
Overall, I'd say you guys should watch it, cause it's pretty funny.

Senyuu. 2 was awesome. Very surprised. I loved the first season because it was hilarious, but that second season had some really nice surprises in terms of plot, while retaining the humor. So yeah, I tend to think it was even better than the first season.
Problem is, like for a lot of animes, the ending isn't an ending. So gonna need season 3 or I'll be pissed.

I think I already talked about the first arc of Railgun S, which was amazing, despite some things in the ending. The second arc wasn't close to be as good, because it was mostly the girls being all emotional from what happened in the first arc. Which is cool and all, but I feel they may have overdone it a little. Other than that, despite some oddities here and there (mostly for the bad guys), it was a pretty good arc. What I really liked though is that they didn't ditch the characters introduced in the first arc. I was kinda afraid they would just do their own thing, ignoring the new characters as if the first arc had never happened. So it was pretty cool.

FIRST REACTION MONDAY, WOO!

Today (counting saturday), I've started watching 3 shows that started airing last week; Kill la Kill, Log Horizon, and Kyoukai no Kanata.

Already made a post on Kill la Kill (like 2 above this) so go read that instead...

As for Log Horizon, it was mostly what I expected. A seemingly much more lighthearted, "action-comedy"-oriented show about people stuck in an MMO. While it may remind you of SAO in some aspects, they're not really that similar as far as I can tell. Art was good, and story and setting seem rather promising, but what got me the most was the humor and characters. It was overall pretty funny, with many of the jokes revolving around how one of the charaters is very loli-esque, and somewhat "perverted" jokes here and there.

Kyoukai no Kanata is probably the one that's hardest to talk about at this point. Story and all has a lot of potential, but didn't really progress much at all in the first episode (as it was more of an introduction), so there's that. Art is standard KyoAni (great quality, but that very iconic design), and music was pretty good. The characters were very likeable, with one slightly cold, teasing girl, who may or may not necessarily be a possible love interest, the MC who's like a mix of Ayumu (Korewa) and Araragi or Hachiman (Monogatari / OreGairu). His interactions with the clumsy, moe demon hunter that is the other MC are quite funny, and remind me a lot of the way the two MC's in Chu-2 interacted.
In fact, it's a lot like Chu-2 when you think about it, just that it's "real" in KnK, as opposed to just illusions... While it did seem kinda lighthearted now, I think it may take a very dark approach later on...

Watched Aura: Maryuuinkouga Saigo no Tatakai today.

It was supposed to be basically Chu2 in a movie format.

So I was expecting a full-out light-hearted comedy, but after a while, you remember MAL is kinda weird and they need to fix their stuff. Cause that was not a comedy at all... I was pretty shocked when it turned out to be a lot more dramatic and darker than funny...

The whole movie has about the same premise as Chu2 for sure. Dude meets chick with fantasy delusions or whatever you want to call it and they do stuff... but unlike Chu2, Aura takes it in a whole different direction, mainly dealing with how those delusions result in bullying... So yeah, try to laugh when the chick comes in class only to find a graffiti on her desk calling her a cum dumpster among other things...

Even then, if it really bothered me, I would have stopped watching, which I didn't, because it was actually a pretty good movie. There were some flaws here and there, but nothing that really ruined it, at least for me. And I'm sucker for this kind of ending, so I'm all for it.

That and Kana Hanazawa voices the chick, so whatever. Good movie.

Well my main complain about MAL here is that Aura is categorized as comedy, which it definitely is not. It doesn't even have the drama tag.

Watched Ano Natsu de Matteru today.

I wasn't really sure how I'd feel about a rom com with aliens, but I was bored and well...

It reminded me a lot of AnoHana and Angel Beats, without saying they're all similar. The story and characters are completely different. In fact you can hardly connect the three at all, but they all feel similar to me.

The kind of shit that makes you laugh and smile for a while, then it takes all your feels and throws them on the ground, stepping on them repeatedly before finally handing them back to you.

That ending was just not cool. You don't do that, it's cheating D:

Spoilers on the ending. Keeping them minor, but still spoilers. Just to explain why the ending is NOT COOL.

I watched the first episode of Kill la Kill. I'm... not even sure how to describe that. It was the most intense, over the top, hot blooded, and utterly insane first episode I've ever seen to an anime. And I loved every second of it.

Watched second episode yesterday, and it's just getting better. I think the only "problem" I'd say I have with the show is that the fanservice is also very much "over-the-top". Like, I see that they're making fun of it as well, and most of the time it's in a rather funny way, but with Senketsu it's just like... there...

Not saying it's something that ruins the experience for me or anything, but it just feels kinda bothersome in a way...

I also watched second episode of Kyoukai no Kanata, and we got some pretty major advancement already, both in plot and character. Also, Kuriyama is a total badass.

Now, I just have a couple of episodes left of Hataraku Maou-sama, and after that I guess I'll have to watch Railgun S and AoT.

I watched the first episode of Strike the Blood. It was actually pretty good. Much better than I expected from the series description:
Quote:

The fourth primogenitor is the most powerful vampire once thought to exist only in the world of legends. Yet when it appears in Japan, the government for some reason chooses an apprentice "sward shaman", Yukina Himeragi, to observe and obliterate it. Bewildered by the disproportionate task and its specific details, Yukina arrives at the Demon District of Itogami-jima to watch Akatsuki Kojo, and a student at a private high school on Itogami-jima.

The first episode did a wonderful job of showing the personalities of the two main characters. As a whole, it's pretty light hearted so far, borderline romantic comedy between Yukina and Akatsuki, but there are seeds of high drama to come later on. The one first scene in the first episode was very well animated. Plus, it did a good job of just giving you enough information about the world for it to make sense.

I originally checked it out since I like vampires, but it turned out to be worth the watch. I'd definitely recommend it.
