Good points. I have also been watching season 2 of Seitokai Yakuindomo and enjoying it just as much as I did the 1st season. Also Mikakunin de Shinkoukei, which unlike past series I've watched, the main male protagonist doesn't pussy foot around when it comes to expressing his feelings for the main girl. Although it's more laugh's and character driven than plot driven, I've been enjoying it. The 3rd one is Tokyo Ravens (anime has far surpassed the translated manga now), and it is getting good. I just wished it lasted longer. Threw in a semi-plot twist (one that I had suspected from the beginning), but the way it did it was pretty good. The 4th one is Strike the Blood. Has some up and down moments, as well as "WTF!?" moments, but still, nice to see non-sparkly vampires without going into the dark setting of something like Van Helsing. |

This is a weird one for me... At the beginning, I really liked it. It had sort of an Index feel to it, but without everything I didn't like about Index, basically. As the show progressed, more of those things appeared, and at the same time my enjoyment of the show steadily went downhill. I mean, I know some people obviously like the type of comedic interaction which happens when there's a sexual misunderstanding, or similar (which tbh, happen a lot here). Yukina went from a character I absolutely loved, to being someone who seems to just be there to get mad at Koujo whenever he makes anything that can even be interpreted as a move on another woman. It gets tedious and boring after a while, imo. The fighting also went a bit downhill, imo. Most of the later fights involving Koujo is pretty much just him punching things. He never uses his familiars until it's absolutely necessary. Thing is, as far as we know, there's no reason for him not to use them (I mean, the snake charmer uses his all the time). Both Yukina and Kirsaka's fights pretty much boil down to beseeching w/e god they pray to, and using the same attack over and over. This is too bad, because at the start we get to see that Yukina, as an attack mage, can do a lot of cool shit (like the resonance thing she uses against that axe dude). But they just forget about that, and every fight scene is just the same now, more or less. Speaking of Koujo and his familiars, I don't know if you've read any of my other posts on StB, but I mentioned in an earlier one that the whole harem aspect of this show is completely stupid. At first, it seems he has to have a harem for a reason (one familiar for each girl), but then later on he draws ANOTHER familiar from Yukina, which clearly shows that he doesn't need that many girls to draw all familiars. I mean, even if he can just draw 2 or 3 from one girl, then it's still a lot more than what he's doing now. The fact that he also doesn't draw the familiars until it's absolutely needed is also really stupid. Ofcourse, it's to create suspension and shit when a situation arrives, but we already know he'll make it out, so why not just draw the fucking familiar and show them off already? Also, he should in theory be able to draw a familiar from a male, as well, even if his vampiric powers are for some reason activated when he's aroused (which is also stupid, since he can activate them whenever he wants). Early in the season, StB was named "the king of cliffhangers", and rightfully so. Later on, it also incorporated a lot of plot twists, and then the story kinda went downhill as well, imo. To clarify, it's not that the story itself is bad, it's just how they handle it. Everything just comes down to the same thing everytime, and it just gets boring. At this point, I've lowered my score on StB to a 6/10. For reference, this is the same score I have for Index, Deadman Wonderland and Elfen Lied. Because I'm watching it weekly, and because it's moving towards a point where a few of these problems can be solved, I'm not dropping it, but the dumbass character interactions and the ecchi stuff remain a big problem, and at this point I wouldn't really recommend watching this. /rant Edited by savepoints, Feb 22 2014, 06:38 AM.

Turns out Nisekoi is awesome and I shouldn't have watched the first couple of episodes to check it out. Only two more episodes and I'll have caught up... then comes the intolerable wait until May when it's all done airing. Fuck me. |

Yeah, been enjoying Nisekoi, but Spoiler: click to toggle D-Frag and Seitokai Yakuindomo season 2 I watch for the light hearted humor. Slightly off topic, as it pertains to manga, but with Naruto and (I think) Bleach looking to come to a close (at least Naruto is giving off that vibe, haven't followed Bleach since Ichigo defeated glasses guy in the anime) and One Piece showing no signs of getting close to stopping (still good, I just don't know how the author keeps it up after so long), which series do you think will have the best chance to take over that (those?) spots? I think Magi might, as the anime is pretty popular and the manga keeps getting better, but then there are series like Nanatsu no Tazai that are also picking major steam. I would have put History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi on there, and while it has some really good arcs, others just really drag it down. But it's one of the few that is still going strong for a similar length of time. And kind of an upstart series, as well as a sort of sequal series, UQ Holder is sort of a sequal to the Negima series (not the 3 different anime that all start out similar but completely diverge from the source material, but the very good until the very rushed end maga), but seems to star Negi's grandson (no, it still hasn't said who Negi hooked up). Very action oriented, and a lot of blood, but also quite a bit of humor as well. |

So, on the long drive down to Florida, I finished Railgun S and Fate/Kaleid. Overall, I have to say both exceeded my expectations and I'm surprised I didn't finish them earlier. Railgun S had amazing fight scenes, the only downfall I could think of was how slow the Silent Party arc was until the end. The four insert songs in a row during the last episode was pretty sweet though. I didn't expect much out of Fate/Kaleid, due to it basically being a magical girl spin off series, but it turned out pretty well. There were some amazing fight scenes (episode 6 in particular, Saber vs. Ilya ogosh) that were some of the best I've ever seen in a show. Exceeded expectations, but that's expected of the Fate series. I'll probably watch The World God Only Knows while I'm down here, and maybe Jojo's Bizarre adventure. Currently on rewatching Code Geass, and remembering why it's one of the best anime I've ever seen in my life. |

So, this didn't happen. Sort of both disappointed and relieved by it. Then again, there were a ton of scenes which basically hinted at this happening in the episode, almost like Trigger was playing with us... |

I will finish PP when the appropriate time comes. For now, I have quite a bit of stuff to watch, tho... Spoiler: click to toggle So that's: Hamatora: 1 ep (gonna watch this right after this post, tho) Higurashi: Plan on starting and hopefully finishing this week. Mahou Sensou: 4 ep (gonna be a pain to catch up to, unless the quality increased a lot) Nobunaga the Fool: 3 ep Nobunagun: 1 ep Otome: I mostly have this here cuz I want to start it soon, and don't want to forget about that. Pupa: 2 ep Sakura Trick: 2 ep Samurai Flamenco: 3 ep Strike the Blood: 1 ep Seki-kun: 1 ep Toradora: Want to finish pretty soon, it's just that I can't watch that much SOL at once... WCW: 1 ep (DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IT AIRED!) Wizard Barristers: 1 ep Wonder Momo: 2 ep (last two of the show, it seems) So ya, that's 22 episodes (some shorter than others), but roughly 6 hours of stuff to watch just from catching up to the weekly shows I missed out on. Then Higurashi is 8 hours, and depending on what the next WAD is, and if I'm gonna stream that or not, THEN I might watch PP. Speaking of Hamatora, I just watched ep 10, and I have like the greatest theory ever right now, but since Kaw didn't watch ep 10 yet, I can't tell him, so I have to put it here! Spoiler: click to toggle

On Hamatora, I have seen it compared to X-Men. And with the recent episodes, I'm definitly seeing that, with more and more open discrimination against people who are born with special powers but just want to live their own lives. Right now, it's definitly looking like the Japanese version of X-Men. |

Yea, that's one fucking roller-coaster. I really like that series as it's one of the few realistic series and not the typical, chase the girl and live happily ever after. |
