I just watched the finale for Kill La Kill and wow, it was perfect. It had just the right blend of intense action and heartfelt emotion. And now, it's kinda hard to believe that the ride is over. |

Finished up Tokyo Ravens, and I enjoyed the ending! Though I do hope it gets a 2nd season, as it seems things are just getting started there. My only problem, was that the anime got SO far ahead of the translated manga, it's rather frustrating. Hamatora was very good (like Japanese X-men almost), but the STUPID ending! It better get another season! Mahou Sensou... It started out SO promising, and then just got really bad and full of plot holes as it went on. Do not bother with this series. D-Frag was hilarious! I really hope this gets another season because I laughed throughout each episode. Mikakunin de Shinkoukei was also good. A little bit of light drama (one person blaming themself for such and such and thinking it's their fault), but overall, also very funny series with a good ending (and the most blunt and straight talking main male lead I have seen in a romance comedy, which was a nice change). Witchcraft Works was also enjoyable with it's romantic comedy/action combo, and it was a "princess" inside the "prince", and the prince was the one who had to be rescued. Definitly a must see. I dropped Golden Time around half way through, and from what I've gathered, it ended up being the college version of Toradora. Toradora also started out much like this, and then the unneeded drama keeps piling on itself and you can only be happy when it finally ends. |

Has anyone looked at Mirai Nikki (Future diary)? Funimation has the anime rights to it but as usual, I haven't looked at it. |

Mirai Nikki is pretty good. Keep in mind it's relatively violent and bloody. If you don't mind that, then you should check it out. It's a good show with cool characters and a decent storyline. |

Strike the Blood ended. Some typical harem and romance comedy stuff with action/shounen thrown in there, but not a bad series. Would like another season of it. Last 2 episodes were semi-trollish, but still entertaining. |

The blood angle is what's keeping me away from Claymore. Mirai Nikki has more, less, or same amount of blood and gore? |

So Sekai Seifuku no Zvezda ended. And that was probably the most over the top series this season, but in a good way. A lot of comedy, a lot of action, some drama, and a LOT of "What the hell just happened there? lol!" Check it out if you get a chance! |

Ok so... To first answer your question, as far as I know, Mirai Nikki probably has more blood and gore than Claymore. Then again, Claymore has a LOT of dismemberment and stuff, and while Mirai Nikki also has some of that, I think Claymore wins in that regard... As for Mirai Nikki as a whole... I liked it. I have it rated as 8/10 on MAL. I'm a HUGE fan of survival games / battle royals, and Mirai Nikki manages to deliver very well in that aspect. On top of that, it features one of my all time favorite characters, Gasai Yuno (a.k.a. the "Queen of Yandere"). The feelings this character made me feel during the first few episodes were so strong, it's pretty crazy (amusement park is best episode, mkay). However, like Tien said, since it's still a survival game, it has quite a bit of blood and gore. If you don't like that, or you really don't like those wimpy main characters (even though he's not wimpy the entire series), then this is probably not for you. It's also important to note that while the series is definitely good, and most of the problems it has you'll probably overlook unless you're looking at it in a really cynical way and all, it does still have some rather big problems. For starters, even though you might not think it would (because of its genre/setting), it tries to cater to a rather wide audience (sort of). They throw in a bunch of stuff, clichés, overused tropes etc, and once you stop and think about it, you'll realise what a big clusterfuck it becomes. There are also some pretty huge plot holes, which more or less appear because it seems like the writers constantly try to 1-up themselves, and at some point, there obviously has to be a limit. Still, for your everyday watcher, these are not huge or noticable problems, and unless you have problems with anything mentioned earlier in this post, then you'll probably enjoy it quite a bit. The story is indeed pretty interesting, and somewhat unique, and (almost) all of the characters have some pretty interesting backstory, which makes them even more interesting (on top of their respective powers and all). Also, while it won't really affect your enjoyment of your series, it has one of the best OPs I've seen as of today (both in terms of the animation and the song itself). |

Ok, almost finished with every show I've been watching weekly (except Nobunaga the Fool, which is the only 2 cour series I started this season), and so I'll be posting my thoughts on the shows as I finish them . Should be done with all of them by tomorrow when the last ones air, and I've caught up to those final episodes. After that, we'll see, really. Once I'm done with these weekly shows, I'll be at 99 completed shows, so the one after that will be my 100th, which will probably be Chu2-Ren, or Railgun S, unless I decide to wait 4 more days (I can still watch stuff, just that I won't finish it, which I probably won't anyway), and then watch Rebellion. Anyway, I've been writing my thoughts on the shows in a blog post on MAL, cuz it's easier to edit and keep in one place, as opposed to going back to edit a post in this thread that'll get buried, so I'll keep that updated, and probably just post a link to it whenever I do make a post here. Also, the shows from fall season, which finished airing during winter season are also included here... Monogatari Series : Second Season does not disappoint. Pretty happy about that. Between the awful ending of Chu2 Ren and Golden Time's mediocre drama, I'm glad Monogatari is still as amazing as it used to be. I think I even like it more than Bakemonogatari, Nekomonogatari or Nisemonogatari. This new season a lot darker than any of the others, so that might be why I like it more. Especially that one episode... I died a little inside. I don't even want to talk about it. Long story short, one of the saddest moments in any anime I've seen so far, and I have mixed feelings about that episode because of that. It was amazing, but at the same time, I hadn't particularly planned to kill myself in the next few days >.> In any case, I have one arc left to go. I wanted to finish it today, but given the nervous wreck I was after that episode, I preferred to stop here for today. Hopefully, I'll have gotten over it tomorrow. Yeah right :( |
