I found the sex jokes in Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou to be really tame compared to, say, Saeitokai Yakuindomo. And really, there aren't even all that many. Some are also physical humor as well. |

I guess it's just not my type of humor. Anyway... Selector Infected WIXOSS: I liked the first episode, but this could totally go either way. Seems like this is also one of those card games where your passion and willpower is what earns you victories, as opposed to actually following the rules... Other than that, all I could think of while watching this was just how many similarities there are actually are to Madoka... First Impression: 7/10. --------------------------------- Akuma no Riddle: This was decent. Nothing really happened this episode, and it was more or less just all about introducing most of the characters. I really hope Haru doesn't end up lika Maria (Canaan), because that'll definitely ruin the entire series... Still tho, really looking forward to some of the more action-packed moments in this series. What sucks is that for some reason no sub group wants to pick this one up. Episode 1 got delayed until today, when some anonymous group decided to sub it, but it seems like they don't want to sub the entire series, and FFF, for one, have said that they're absolutely not going to sub this. Really unsure as to why this is, but maybe they all think Funimation or CR will license it (in which case they better get on that fast). First Impression: 7/10. --------------------------------- In other news, seems like Tonari no Seki-kun got extended to 21 episodes, which is cool, and Mahouka is apparently airing (on CR) today, in 6 hours! I totally thought it was gonna air tomorrow, so this is great! Edited by savepoints, Apr 5 2014, 06:53 AM.

Things will pick up later on for Akuma no Riddle. So far, it's following the manga pretty closesly. Also, even at chapter 19 of the manga, the whole yuri thing is more implied than at the forefront. So don't expect to be overwhelmed by it. Also, some interesting twists will come up (other than the obvious). |

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: Now this one was good. I mean, it wasn't super amazingly awesome or w/e, but my interest definitely didn't drop, so my hype is still intact. I think it's cool that the MC is (supposedly) not that great of a magic user, but is more of a thinker (like Shiroe from LH). Then again, in the OP/ED we clearly see him pulling off some big stuff with magic. He also has martial arts and guns, though. Anyway, I liked pretty much all the characters (didn't really care much for glasses girl tho, since she stood out the least of all the characters), the magic is cool since it's part technology, and the whole discrimination between magic users is also interesting. First Impression: 8/10. Hype intact. --------------------------------- Captain Earth: This was pretty cool, and I liked the first episode. Near the end, it sort of stopped making much sense at all, and then suddenly, space mecha. Still though, was cool up until that, and could still be cool depending on how they handle the mecha combot and all. First Impression: 7/10. --------------------------------- I also just realised that, not counting the 2 shows I'm still watching from winter season (Seki-kun, and Nobunaga the Fool), I'll be watching a total of 21 shows weekly, if I don't end up dropping any of them. This is gonna be some intense stuff. 15 more shows to air now, GO GO! Edited by savepoints, Apr 5 2014, 06:35 PM.

Mahouka Kouko no Rettousai has been one I've been waiting on for awhile (been following the manga). I think you'll like this one. Also just watched episode 1 of Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii. Normally, shoujo are bland romance dram with extra emphasis on the drama. This one though, well, I actually follow the manga and this one has some pretty good comedy. Check it out. Plus the female lead isn't your typical pushover. |

Methinks fair Pong has an issue with a certain anime studio; they make a near-perfect product and this vexes him a touch for now he must wait for new episodes of said product to become available. |

I feel his pain. I long for the day when series will be aired in one-go... but that's probably never going to happen

Seriously, this first couple of weeks when every show is airing for the first time is such a pain. Nothing seems to air on the correct dates, and then CR decides to be a bitch, so I have to torrent most of the episodes, and then some don't even have torrents available, so I have to go around looking for streams that have it. This is probably gonna sort itself out for the remaining episodes, though. Speaking of which, I totally need a better way to keep track of when every show airs, cuz 28 (totally thought it was 21 shows...) episodes a week is gonna be sort of difficult to keep track of (recommendations appreciated). Also, Madman licensed Akuma no Riddle, so now we'll have that subbed! Anyway, on to more first impressions... --------------------------------- Isshuukan Friends.: Okay wtf? Isn't this supposed to be a comedy? Because seriously, this is like the saddest premise of any comedy ever, and this episode wasn't funny at all, shit's just sad. I'm so confused right now... Also, kinda dislike the way the characters are drawn with like, permanent blushing. First Impression: If it wants to be a sad anime, 7/10. If it wants to be a comedy, 4/10. --------------------------------- Kenzen Robo Daimidaler: Ok so... I totally thought this would a sort of serious mecha series (I mean, it's seinen and all), but was apparent pretty early on that this does not take itself serious at all. It was sort of funny at times, when they didn't put all the focus on the ecchi stuff, but at the same time I can see the same ecchi stuff becoming pretty annoying, no matter how non-serious it wants to be... First Impression: 7/10. Ecchi stuff could become too much causing me to drop it no matter how good the rest is. --------------------------------- Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii: This is the first time I ever watch a shoujo anime, but from what I've heard (from Tien), this is not really that much like many other shoujo. It looks good, the music is pretty great, the mc is pretty awesome, it's funny, and it had some pretty interesting stuff going for it. Hopefully, they keep this up. First Impression: 8/10. --------------------------------- Gokukoku no Brynhildr: Wow, this was really good. Didn't expect too much from this, so it definitely exceeded my expectations. It also had one of the funniest scenes of all the ones I've watched so far, Spoiler: click to toggle I'm also surprised at the OP, since it's actually instrumental and has a bit of a dubstep-vibe to it.First Impression: 8/10. Can't wait to see more of this. --------------------------------- Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to: I had pretty low expectations of this, and tbh, it didn't really exceed those... It had a few funny moments, but this gave a very good feel for how the entire series will be (seeing how it's a short, as well), so I may just drop this as is, without giving it a 3-episode grace period. First Impression: 5/10. Prob insta-drop. --------------------------------- Edited by savepoints, Apr 8 2014, 09:27 AM.

Black Bullet: Just as with Mahouka, I had an insane amount of hype for this show, and I am totally satisfied after watching the first episode. The story is pretty cool, and while we don't know much about Satomi yet, Enjou is awesome and I found the way she acts to be really funny. I'm also looking forward to learning more about the initiators, as well as seeing some of the other weapons used for fighting the Gastrea (there are some shown in promotional images and such). Also hope they really do something (good) with the fact that there are other groups who take Gastrea contracts, since the rivality could prove to be pretty cool. First Impression: 8/10. AotS. --------------------------------- Kanojo ga Flag wo Oraretara: To me, this felt like a worse version of "Isshuukan Friends.". It had a few funny moments, and I think the concept is pretty interesting, but already after only one episode there are characters I dislike, and it doesn't have that much going for it overall. At least this seems like one of the comedy shows this season that won't be about sex jokes only (if at all), so that's cool. EDIT: Apparently this episode covered the entire first volume of the source material... First Impression: 6/10. Depends on what they do with the flags. --------------------------------- Mahou Shoujo Taisen: This was cute and all, but that's more or less all I'm expecting from this (since the first episode wasn't that funny, either). Will probably watch for full season, since it's only 3 minutes long. First Impression: 6/10. --------------------------------- Edited by savepoints, Apr 8 2014, 03:25 PM.

The light novel series Ninja Slayer (the Japanese take on the American take of Japanese scifi and martial arts films/shows) is getting an anime adaption. And guess who's going to be a part of the production? Trigger. http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2014/04/06/trigger-attached-to-ninja-slayer-anime |

Just watched No Game No Life. Pretty different from what you usually see. Kind of similar to that series a while back where the kid gets transported to a world where different kingdoms have people with different animal ears, and that they settle disputes through games. This series though, has a different twist. Instead of the main protaganist being a super athlete, the main protaganists are a sibling duo who spend nearly every waking hour (days at a time, it seems) doing nothing but playing games. And then get transported to a world where everything is decided by games. Hard to get a good read on this series only one episode in, but it does have a different premise than most others. Hard to say if it is drop worthy or a keeper. |
