SAOII First episode impressions:

Animation is beautiful so far, and very dedicated to the novels. If they keep this up, the show will turn out to be amazing, especially when action scenes start to roll around. Very nice introduction episode into the entire series, and it's supposed to be 24 episodes, which means they could add in some extra arcs after GGO finishes (if it's the same pacing as the last two arcs). MOTHER'S ROSARIO HYPE.

Woof Woof Woofies!
Never watched Sailor Moon. And the only opening song I ever watched is season 1 of Ranma 1/2. Outside of that, I just skip it altogether. I watched Dragon Ball, DBZ, Zoids (the one where it's a game basically), a little Speed Racer, and Naruto when it was first starting. Stopped watching Naruto after the first 15 episodes or so of filler. Oh and throw Bleach in there too.

I just watched the first episode and it was pretty solid. Good introduction episode for anyone who hasn't seen the series before and they did a good job of making the first monster creepy looking. That being said, I do have a few complaints, though most are rather nitpicky I admit.

First off, the transformation sequence. It was pretty lackluster and I've definitely seen better use of cgi before. Though the fact that the cgi is kinda meh isn't the major issue, it's the fact that everything looks so completely different than the rest of the show, including Usagi herself. Might have been better if made her model for that using the same art styles as the rest of the show and just made the clothes cgi. As it stand now, it looks like they spliced in a shot from a completely different show.

The voices of Luna and Usagi's mom sound too young. Usagi's mom pretty much sounds to be the same age as Usagi. And I guess I'm just used to mentor characters sounding a good bit older than the ones they're teaching.

Usagi's face, and the faces some of the other characters, just seems too doll-like. I get that the big eyes thing is a shouju staple, but they just seemed rather lifeless through a lot of the episode. The old style, while far from perfect, did a good job of playing up their personalities. This time around, the art is very polished, but has less personality to it. So far, I prefer the old art more.

Finally, the soundtrack was kinda meh.

All that being said, I did like it and I'm looking forward to more.

Aldnoah.Zero first impressions:

Definitely living up to all the hype I hear about it. Fantastic pilot episode. Set the tone of the show rather quickly while introducing likable characters, and good animation. Interested to see where this is going.

Sailor Moon: Crystal Star first impressions:

Basically Sailor Moon being Sailor Moon in a more modern time. CGI kinda throws me off, everything else is pretty decent so far. Usagi's VA is actually kind of annoying, though. I'll get used to it with time, though. It does fit the character.

Sword Art Online II - First Impressions - (7/10):
Good first episode, in my opinion, as it really was an introductory episode, which did a good job at setting things up for the rest of the series. Animation was also pretty good, and what I saw of the ED, the fight scenes looks like they'll look pretty good, as well. Now I just want to get me some of that action, and I'll be set!

Aldnoah.Zero - First Impressions - (8/10):
Holy shit, this was amazing. Really packed first episode, establishing a lot of the characters, giving a lot of background story, and getting the plot moving. Then again, seeing who're working on this, I guess it's not much of a surprise. That scene where the ship lands, and the song starts playing was just plain awesome. The one thing that is gonna be very hit-or-miss for me about this is how they handle the actual mecha, to be honest. However, since Inoha is the MC (as far as I can tell), and he'll probably be the one to pilot the mecha later on, I really like the fact that he's so calm and collected, as opposed to the standard nervous breakdown, screams a lot, loves fighting character we usually see. This definitely has the potential to be really, really good.

What the actual fuck was that ending on Black bullet!?

I guess sequel bait. Like in season 2 (if there is one) she becomes an avenger that Rentaro has to stop.

I swear, as much as I enjoyed watching Black Bullet, it has a ton of flaws in general. There's a bunch of open plot points that never get explained or expanded upon (like the tricylce that summoned the level 5 gastrea). Also, I have to wonder, have these people ever heard of a prison? I get that Rentaro is a very lawful good character that doesn't just want to gun down every bad guy he comes across, but it seems like in this anime the only two choices are to kill the guy or let him walk away scot-free (which bites Rentaro in the ass). Good characters, good action scenes, but extremely flawed.

DRAMAtical Murder - First Impressions - (5/10):
Just... What the hell? Actually, before I get into this, I just wanted to say that I realized after the episode that, even though the anime doesn't share the same tags, it's actually based on some shoujo BL action manga, so that might explain some things...

Anyway, I'm just not entirely sure what to think about this, really... The setting is kinda interesting, and the concept of Rhyme is pretty cool, but that's pretty much it for me. There was no explanation for absolutely anything that happened at all, and the majority of plot points introduced in this episode felt incredibly forced and dumb. I'll give this 3 episodes, at least, but I'm expecting this to possibly be the first show I drop, to be completely honest...

Akame ga Kill! - First Impressions - (8/10)
Surprisingly good for what I expected from what sounded like a pretty standard action/adventure series. Had some funny bits, the fighting was cool, it was pretty well paced, and I rather like the characters. Akame seems like she could very well already be my favorite in the entire show, but even Tatsumi, who at first seems like your standard shounen hero, wasn't a total wuss and dumbass, and actually made some interesting decisions, which is obviously a good thing.
---------------------------------

So, aside from the 3 shows airing next week (Hanayamata, Hamatora, Tokyo ESP), I'm just waiting for that episode of Zankyou no Terror to be released already, and then I'll have all of my summer season going (unless of course someone might have any suggestions as to any particular show that I totally missed). Actually, anyone seen Barakamon?

just finished yo gabba gabba. little character progression throughout, the characters were difficult to connect to. poor acting, though they set some enticing themes throughout. would give it a solid 5/10 but honestly wouldn't recommend it to my peers

I decided to pick up Barakamon anyway, cuz bored and whatnot, and wow...

Barakamon - First Impressions - (8/10):
I just now picked this up out of pure curiousity/boredom, and I've gotta say that turned out to be a really good move. Based on this first episode alone, and how well done it felt, this show has potential to be incredibly feel-good, and while the comedy maybe wasn't the carrying factor in this episode, I can definitely see it adding to it later on. The little kid, though created as an "annoying" character, in a sense, was still very likable, which I thought they did a good job with, as I'm eager to see further interactions between him and the MC, especially.

Am i the only one that gets bothered by the fact that a 15? year old girl that barely pushes is giving CPR? I'm not trained in first aid but i'm pretty sure that you need to push at least as hard that you might break ribs. Pushing at a pair of breast and blowing air in her mouth wont work, also you don't drown from being submerged in water for about 10 seconds. I usually don't bother with realism in anime but shit like that bothers me for some reason.

I have a few things like that as well, which just bug me whenever they come up. For me, the biggest one is guns, like, in general. It's just almost worse than western action movies sometimes...

Of course, if it's some kinda of fantasy/super-sci-fi stuff, then I can more or less let it slide (at least when it comes to this).

That was, tbh, one of the biggest problems I had while watching Black Lagoon (which in itself is a pretty minor problem). You can't grab a gun like that while it's firing and have your hand remain intact!

Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi (8/10)

It's a weird mixture of romcom and action. The show has good pacing and is actually really sweet, it has a number of flaws and can be a bit over dramatic at times and a couple of plot holes.
HE starts in a club because he fell in love with a girl after one week, first thing that bugged me. Really repetitive action and annoying things, like the fact that they don't call the police when people get kidnapped and someone threatens you with a knife or a large blunt weapon. It was somewhat explained in the plot but still bugged me. What i liked about it is the romance well kinda. FUCK IT i don't know why i liked it when it was total garbage in it's consistency and super repetitive. The plot was worse than a fucking piece out of a Schwarzenegger film. But it had it's moments not awesome and i don't know why i'm giving it an 8 but i am so fucking deal with it.

Hanayamata - First Impressions - (7/10):
So this was... sort of disappointing, I guess. I mean, I still kinda liked it. It's colorful, and it had some funny moments (unfortunately we didn't see a lot of most characters), but my main problem is actually Naru herself. She just goes on and on whining about what she wants, and when she's given that, she whines about not wanting it anymore (and of course we all know that she'll do it in the end, so). It's just so annoying... Hope they tone that down.

Re:␣Hamatora - First Impressions - (8/10):
Pretty good first episode, really capturing the feel of Hamatora overall, even with that weird time skip and all. This episode was pretty funny, did a good job at explaining a few things, and setting up the story for what's to come, so really looking forward to that (and hopefully it will have even better pacing than the first season).

Really like Hamtora. Honestly, I was expecting him to pop up out of nowhere the whole time. Nevertheless, still quite good.

Still hasn't explained why Art turned on Nice at the end of last season though, but hopefully they explain later.
