Just a note on Durarara, it's a good series, but very weird. Let me put it this way, without giving away much, the headless woman spirit is the most normal character of the entire cast.
Yea, so I've heard... It's also connected to Baccano somehow as well, right? Like, it has the same characters or something like that.
All the light novels by Ryohgo Narita (Baccano, Durarara, Vamp, and Etsusa Bridge) are set in the same world. Though I'm not sure if they directly reference events that happened in other stories or not.

They do. Describing it would be spoilers.

So, Tokyo Ghoul second season announced for January (Winter season 2015), and Supercell has confirmed that EGOIST will be performing at least the ED for Psycho-Pass 2.

Good stuff.

Kind of going back to an old and finished series, Mahou Sensei Negima, I'm doing a reread through it (the 2 animes only follow it to a certain extent, so not the best things to go off of), and you really don't see many of the usual anime/manga stereotypes that so often plague series today. Like the tsundere character (generally doubles as the loli character as well), of which I get pretty annoyed with. Also, the big breasted air head who is also rich and book smart. There is fanservice, and quite a bit, but it's not the overly sexual nature that is so dominant in many series. A lot of it, at least early on, comes from Negi sneezing. And Negi, unlike other MCs, is 10-11 years old and not a pervert (also a nice change of pace). There is his pet ermine that is perverted, but it's more of a throwback to, say, the old man in Ranma 1/2, in that he likes to steal underwear.

All in all, the more I read of it, the more I enjoy it. Also to note, it does have a sequel series, UQ Holder, which so far, is pretty awesome. Though it focuses more on action than the original series did.

Aldnoah.Zero final impressions: (9/10)

HOLY SHIT WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT. With that final episode, Aldnoah.Zero has become AotS for me. I didn't expect that type of ending. The only thing I didn't like that much about the show was the heavy use of CGI whenever they threw out the mechas, but eventually you just learn to deal with them. Did a lot of small things that makes it even better, like a small salute or how well done the PTSD section was. Also, Season 2 has been announced for January 2015, but I have no idea how they could continue off of that.

I watched the first part of Hellsing Ultimate yesterday and I gotta say, I liked the original anime better. At least. I liked the first section of the original anime more. Ultimate's first hour long episode covers the first three episodes of the original. But the original just seemed more fleshed out. I liked the way it actually showed the vampire they were hunting in that hospital and gave it a back story. Plus the way the serial killer vampires were actually given some real screen time before being killed. I will give Ultimate a little credit though, since I do like this version of Seras Victoria more.

1 more episode for Barakamon. This series has been a nice surprise and really enjoyable!

Also seems that Mahouka Kouka no Rettousai is also about to end, and probably with a bang the way things are heading. Really enjoyed the manga, but the anime just got so far ahead of the manga (that's been translated) that it's ridiculous.

That ending to aldnoah was fucking shit. I know it's a cliffhanger so you'l watch the second season but fuck that ending in every way.

Tokyo Ghoul - Final Impressions - (8/10):
If we completely ignore the censoring deal with this, then this show is pretty damn fantastic. Going from showing us how the Ghouls live, and the different kinds of them, to what happens at the end was really entertaining to watch. While Kaneki could be a bit of a whimp sometimes, I think it was handled pretty well since it was almost always for a proper reason and not overdone, as well as the fact that many other characters were there to balance out this trait of his. While the pacing may have been a bit off for a few episodes, there's no denying that ending was incredibly awesome (even with the censor), and since season 2 has already been announced, I'm really satisfied with all of this. They even managed to deliver more Rize, which was awesome.
I'm sort of expecting a different feel from the second season, however, because of Kaneki's endeavors in the last episode, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Still tho, if all censor is removed in the BD release, then I'm definitely rewatching this once that comes out.

Aldnoah.Zero - Final Impressions - (9/10)
Holy. Fucking. Shit. Where do I even start? That smile. That literary reference. This series is so Urobuchi it's amazing.

While I do have some theories on how they'll even continue after this episode, I somehow seriously doubt a second season could live up to what we've just seen. That's not to say the series was perfect, since it did have its share of flaws, specifically regarding the characters (I seem to be like the only one not bothered by the CGI). While I loved how Inaho was seemingly void of emotion, some other characters were just plain dull or didn't get nearly enough attention which, as opposed to Inaho's character, obviously wasn't a design decision. At the same time, however, most of the cast I thought was amazing. Inaho, Slaine, and Rayet, especially. I also think it's funny how well this series handles emotions, seeing what kind of character Inaho is, specifically PTSD, which was portrayed in a much better way than certain other shows airing at the moment.

While Zankyou no Terror has its share of thrills, and Barakamon is basically mental healing in anime form, there's no doubt that Aldnoah.Zero is my personal AotS. If only other mecha shows made me feel this way.

Well, Sabagebu is over. This series was hilarious! Crazy characters, adventures, and happenings! And it ended with the same sort of comedy it began with. I really enjoyed this! 8/10.

And that's it for Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun. This series was also hilarious! Kind of a reversal of most romantic comedies, with a ton of humor and interesting characters. 8/10.

Re_: Hamatora - Final Impressions - (8/10):
That was sort of an interesting ending. I mean, it answered most of the questions left by the previous season, as well as everything that happened this season, but it also opened up quite a few new questions, which may seem very deus ex-esque. Still, I'm satisfied with how this entire series turned out, and I'm kinda sad that it most likely won't continue (I mean, maybe it will, but I personally don't want it to either, because there's no real direction for it to go in now).

Zankyou no Terror - Final Impressions (9/10)

This show was beautiful. The riddles, the interactions of the three numbered characters, the detective vs terrorist interaction. All of it was done spectacularly. The last two episodes were kind of odd, but the rest of the show was done to fantastically. No chance for a second season with how they wrapped it up. Except for the English. That was shitty.

Zankyou no Terror - Final Impressions - (9/10):
Holy shit, that ending was simply beautiful. And so was the entire series, to be honest. The characters, riddles, and especially the whole back and forth between Sphinx and Shibazaki (was very reminiscent of early Death Note, in my opinion). Just beautifully executed. The one thing that got to me though, and which kinda dragged the show down on its own, was Five. To me, Five wasn't a very good character at all. She's introduced way too late to fit as the main antagonist, imo, and the only emotion her characters brought about was annoyance. Sure, she had some nice scenes towards the end, but that's not really thanks to her character at all, but more about the scene as a whole.

Still tho, while I don't think it surpasses Aldnoah as AotS, it was very good, and definitely had the best soundtrack of any of the shows from this season (seriously, go listen to any song from it, it's amazing).
---------------------------------

So, guys. Now that pretty much all 1 cour shows ended from this season (Barakamon's last episode was just fansubbed as well), let's spur some discussion here. What series did you think excelled in particular areas? Like, which was your overall AotS, which do you think had the best OST, OP/ED, animation/art, characters, twists, etc. You decide, I'm just interested in hearing what you think. I'll post my own thoughts later on when I finish Barakamon.
