Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru. The description said it was a slice of life series. And it does start out that way. And then it, almost out of no where, goes magical girl. At least it's not the typical brain-dead moe kind of magical girl. One girl (the oldest and the only one in the know) didn't want her friends involved in it because it could have severe consequences. And the way the one girl opens up her powers is actually pretty badass. |

Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso ep 2. I like this show, but those eyes and lips just do not go well with the rest of the character designs. But otherwise, I am enjoying it. It has it's emotional moments, yeah, but then it also has it's funny moments. |

I wanted to like Denkigai, I really did. The first episode was pretty charming. But that second episode was way too over the top with the sex and otaku jokes. The only part I really liked was Sommelier carrying the little girl and how her head kept hitting doorways. I'll give the third episode a shot but I hope it's more like the first than the second. |

Agreed. It just didn't have the flow the first episode did. |

Log Horizon 2nd Season - Episode 3 Impressions - (8/10): Series is starting to pick up a bit, which is nice. They're still doing a really good job at actually explaining all the MMO stuff to people who may not be familiar with it, and still making it actually feel like they're stuck in a game (the raid felt pretty well done, for example). They're only teasing with the antagonists though, so we probably won't get to see any Chiwa Saito for a few more episode, as they'll probably clear the raid before the antagonists are introduced for real. At this point, I only want a bit more development on the other storylines, other than Shiroe's, although since we're only on the 3rd episode, I expect that to come. Finally, there's one thing I don't like, and that's Tetra. She's just annoying. --------------------------------- Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete - Episode 3 Impressions - (7/10): So, what do we have so far? Pretty sub-par animation, shoddy voice acting, some outright bad characters and motivations, but at the same time, there's no denying that the story is really interesting. We're given more and more hints as to what's really going on, and by this point I think you should more or less understand the very basics of what's happening, and it's this, I think, that makes me want to keep watching the series. I want to see how far they'll take all of this, how dark it'll get, and how they'll resolve it. Hopefully, every other aspect of this show won't worsen and drag the rest of it down to the point where it becomes unwatchable. --------------------------------- Sanzoku no Musume Ronja - First Impressions - (7/10): As a Swede, who basically grew up watching the original movie adaption of this, I obviously have some expectations watching this. So far, I'm actually fairly happy with the adaption. The first episode pretty much included everything I wanted it to include, and the feeling of it is very Ghibli, as expected. There are definitely some complaints tho. The first, and biggest is definitely the use of CGI. I'm usually not one to complain about the use of CGI in anime, but this series pretty much has the same problem as Sidonia, and I just can't get over the fact that characters completely animated with CGI look incredibly dumb. It just all feels so out of place, and it kinda drags it all down, especially when you have really beautiful backgrounds and such, as well. Then I was kinda disappointed by the harpies. I remember the movie ones really freaking me out, and even if they aren't super scary in hindsight, they definitely look better than what we got here. Ghibli basically gave us flying drag queens. Like, what? I think the score for this will basically come down to how well adapted it is (in my opinion, based on what I've seen), and how well I'll get used to the CGI. --------------------------------- Edited by savepoints, Oct 19 2014, 11:27 AM.

Honestly, it's pretty much the only reason I'm watching the series. Everything else is just kind of meh... |

I'm with you there. Just not all that enticing outside of that. But even that part is only doing so much for me. I am however, quite enjoying Grisaia no Kajitsu. The male protagonist isn't the usual squirmy, perverted, outcast that you see so often. Instead, he keeps his cool for the most part, but does have his limits. And is quite blunt. You also have the one girl trying to be tsundere, but fails hilariously, the younger and highly impressionable smaller girl, the "perverted older sister" who keeps breaking into his room, the class rep who takes everything literally and tends to overdo things to a hilarious extreme, and finally the knife wielding girl who likes to snoop through other people's past. |

Inou-Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de - Episode 3 Impressions - (8/10): This is definitely going strong. All the characters just keep getting better and better (Hatoko still best girl), and all the new characters they've introduced so far have also been really awesome. I particularly like the fact that the guy who'll most likely serve as the "antagonist" turned out to also be a really awesome character. I'm still waiting to see just how much actual story we'll be getting, as opposed to straight up SOL with a twist, although at this rate, I think I'd be rather OK with the latter. --------------------------------- |

Yep. Technically a harem series, but not really the run of the mill harem. Really enjoying it! I do have a feeling that "Dark Flame" ability will have some sort of impact at the end of the season. What it will be, considering it's only a lukewarm fire that can't burn anything, I'm not sure. Just a feeling. |

So, volume 1 of the Tokyo Ghoul BDs (episode 1-3) has been released (thought it was a while back, but this is the first time I've seen anything about it at all), and here are some images comparing the uncensored scenes in the BD with the tv version. Image 20 and on contains some minor spoilers, beware. http://imgur.com/a/tvt2r So basically, it seems a lot of these scenes are so stupid censor-wise, that it's just astounding... And then there's that head, which pretty much still looks censored... Well, it's still a lot better, and it'll probably be a lot more enjoyable to watch it like this instead. |
