Grisaia no Kajitsu ep 6. Really moving the plot along now. Took 3 episodes for the first girl, and 1 for this one. Still, it did pretty well despite being rushed.

For the first time i really like a male MC. It's finally not some pushover who is scared by a pair of breasts.

Yep. Also, he's not completely impervious to otherwise surprising things either. He's actually human. More experienced and mature, but still human. And he rolls with the conversation too. A pretty good MC.

This season seems to be a good one for male main characters. There's Yuji from Grisaia, Toru from Chaika, Kasuga from Trinity Seven, and Andou from Inou Battle. All seem to have strong personalities without being assholes, aren't afraid of breasts, and give good lines.

Definitely true, and that bold part can especially be said about Melidoas from Nanatsu no Taizai...

Also, finally got back to watching some stuff after a short break (Rebirth will be the end of me), but since it's mid-season I don't really feel the same "need" to do mid-series impressions as I do for the start and endings... In any case Korra is holding up really well. The fight with Kuvira was awesome, and the way it ended is also pretty good when you think about it, since it's much more realistic, in a sense. Really excited to see how the finale of this season will turn out, as it'll probably come down to a lot more than simply defeating Kuvira and having her step down.

The only sad thing about this, is that the creators have said that after this season, the Avatar series is done. Legend of Korra season 2 was a bit iffy for about half the season, but otherwise, they have made one of the best franchises ever. That's saying something.

To be precise, they said that they're moving away from Avatar after Korra ends. So not only does that imply, but they also more or less said that, while the chance is very small, there's still a chance they'll some day return to the Avatar universe. However, for now, they want to move on, and work on other stuff, because iirc, they talked about getting "stuck" with one thing for too long was bad, and nickelodeon being total shit probably has something to do with it as well. So yea, we'll probably never see any other Avatar series again, but hope lives on. Otherwise, I guess it'd be cool to see what they come up with instead.

If they were to return to it, however, my guess is that it'd be in the form of a movie or similar (animated). Although, personally, I'd much rather like to see Kyoshi's story animated, maybe based on that web comic that went around some time ago, that was like a fan story about Kyoshi's early days and all. I mean, come on, there's no denying she was, and always will be, the best avatar. This would totally need to be on a different network tho, cuz her story is actually kinda brutal, as far as I'm aware...

So vague. But really, on a scale like that, it'd be pretty high in general, because they're well known for a reason. What it all comes down to is what you actually want to watch, since everything is not for everyone.

As for the ones you used as examples, I can with certainty say (even though I haven't seen either) that you should definitely watch them. Code Geass is more action-oriented, but supposedly has a very chessmaster feel to it, and a very good story at that. Gintama, on the other hand, focuses almost purely on comedy, with the premise of making fun of every single trope there is. I've heard a lot of people say that Gintama is more of a show you might want to pick up and watch a couple episodes now and then, as opposed to "forcing" yourself through, since it's all about comedy, so after a while it could become a lot of the same (it's several hundreds of episodes long with the multiple seasons, iirc).

Then it more or less all comes down to what you mean by "well known". I mean, ask older people, and you'll get very different answers than from people who watched mostly stuff from the 2000s and onward. Looking at the top list on MAL, I'd say you're pretty well off working your way through that, if your intent is simply to watch the more well known shows. I mean, they're on there for a reason, although I personally don't know if it'd be worth watching all the sports series, since a lot of them are the same, with few exceptions, like One Outs.

I guess if you wanted a more specific list, then I could try my hand at making a smaller one, based on what I've picked up from around the internet (which to be honest, is quite a bit. I know way too much about shows I haven't even seen).

I knew what they where about, i was more looking for if anyone had watched them and if they where good in their respective genera.

I know Zyan's seen Code Geass, and he loves it, though afaik, nobody here has seen Gintama (tho I've seen a lot of random clips from it, and if it weren't because I was watching so much other shit, then I'd probably give it a real go).

In the end, it all comes back to the fact that "they aren't this well known for no reason".

I've seen Code Geass too and it's amazing, one of my favorites. I think it's one of those series everyone should at least check out.

I've seen a few episodes of Gintama. Well, the first few. They're funny, but I just couldn't get into it as a series. Think One Piece humor without the dramatic parts.

Also still quite thankful that unlike most other seasons, the main male protagonists, for the most part, are not wussy little push overs that get easily flustered in the least awkward of positions. Hell, Inou-Battle wa Nichijou-kei no Naka de's male hero, despite having 8th grade syndrome, actually has some pretty deep insight to the group's problems. And while more awkward than other male leads this season, he's more "real" than previous ones.
