Holy fuck episode 23 was everything I'd hoped it would be, and everything I wished it wasn't.
I don't... What... Just, what the fuck? I have to be honest, I definitely did not expect that AT ALL. I don't know if this is how the manga goes, but if it isn't, then I applaud White Fox for their writing and decisions in regards to the anime-original part of this series.

Spoiler: click to toggle

In any case, this was the only episode where I stayed and listened to the entire ED (no, I didn't even do that for episode 21), and now I'm sitting here listening to EGOIST's "Departures", which has come to be my "go-to" sad song, along with "Planetes", so yea... This show, tho...
---------------------------------

World Trigger - Dropped @ Episode 3 - (6/10):
Well, after the first episode I was unsure whether this would actually bring anything good, or if it'd just plummet instantly in terms of quality, and seems to me like the latter is where we're at. The whole thing they're doing with Kuga when it comes to the animation is still really annoying, in my opinion, and the fighting is totally uninteresting, to me. I mean, this show is all about fighting big monsters, so when you fail to make that enjoyable to watch, then you've pretty much failed your entire series. On top of that, the two episodes that followed the first basically followed the exact formula as episode 1, and man, did that become boring to watch real fast. Could've been a lot better, to be honest.

That series is quite good, i liked the first season more than the second or third. To.. much.. clutter.

On that kind of note, the MC's in theses kinds of series is Buddha incarnate or something and I hate it. That's what always irks me about those kinds of anime's, that girl i like is shoving her loin in my face, better look away..

The dense/super shy MC seems to unfortunately be pretty much inherit to the harem (and to an extent even rom-coms in general) genre, and to me it kinda just seems like a lazy way to fill out the show itself, as there wouldn't be much to it if he chose a girl in the first couple of episodes. On top of that, unfortunately, pretty much all series (that I can think of right now) that have an MC that isn't this way, are seemingly always a lot more ecchi (although not always to the extreme. Trinity Seven from this season seems to be a good one, maybe, idk).

I mean, there is Love rumble, then there is Feels Mc cry allot (clannad), Toradora, (Sakuraso), Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi ga Shuraba Sugiru (dunno what it's called).

Sure some aren't really what you'd call a harem romcom. The thing is if they can shove a 16-18 year olds crotch in some guys face they can have a sexual relation ship, don't need to show em having sex, but there are plenty of ways to show a legitimate relationship even without sex off course. They play the sex appeal as a huge thing but it always seems to root back to the open for interpretation ending. All them fat white boys want their waifu.

There are plenty of ova's and short things that do it well, but the industry is gonna stick to it ain't broken don't fix it.

If you mean the short/common name, it's OreShura.

I think this is largely due to the anime industry maybe not being as great as we'd like to think. I mean, compare an anime series to a western series, and they barely make any money from the anime. This in turn means that you gotta produce what sells, and since most of the money comes from investors, they get a say in what happens during production. This is exactly what Under The Dog wants to bypass with their kickstarter, since with crowdsource funding, they effectively have 100% authority on everything production-related, and as such they can take a lot more risks. That's not to say that there aren't studios that already take risks with unusual shows, but not all of them pay off, unfortunately...

As for the relationship thing, I know there are a few series (at least) that have actual sex in them (Mnemosyne is the first to come to mind), but this is always with adults, and most of the series with adult main characters (usually seinen) tend to be action-oriented, and not so romance-focused, even if there might be a subplot for that, so there's never actually really enough follow-up with all of it to get that far. At the same time, I guess it's important to note that this is still a mainly Japan-focused business, and afaik anime is more geared towards "kids" or young adults, just like games are, so that's probably also a big reason why we don't have HBO-level sex scenes in anime, and shit...

You could always try School Days. Now that was an MC in a harem style show who was certainly not overly shy, especially when it came to sex. Shame what happened to him though... ;)

The World God Only Knows - Final impressions (All three seasons) 8/10:

Overall, this show does what it wanted to do well. Stick a gamer obsessed with dating sims into a world where he has to make real girls fall in love with him, making an unconventional harem. Though, he wasn't oblivious to the love like most harem MC's, he just STRAIGHT UP didn't have interest. He did what he was good at, and he was bad at things. He wasn't just someone who can do anything, there were obvious flaws (I'm looking at you, Tatsuya). Enjoyable show, the last season was definitely my favorite, but I can see why it received large amounts of hate from the manga readers. Also, it definitely had my favorite recurring joke I've ever witnessed.

Worth a watch, but nothing TOO spectacular.

Yeah I enjoyed that series. And to keep on topic, he wasn't a push around little wuss.

Also, I don't think it's because he didn't have any interest, he did to some degree with each of them, but because they forgot about him after he was able to romance them, he had to distance himself and not commit himself too much to any one relationship.

Another one I like is Ranma 1/2. He's not a weak wimp (far from it), and obviously has feelings or the girls (won't spoil the ending of the manga), he just doesn't know how to express it and often gets dragged into other people's messes.

Chaika Season 2 Final Impressions: 6/10

Overall, I felt that this season was weaker in comparison to the first one. The middle of the show is slow after the first arc, and doesn't pick back up again until the last two episodes. Just kind of lost interest in the middle, and the ending never brought me back to where it was trying to put me. Overall, just really disappointing in how it was carried out.

Also, ending seemed rushed.

Chaika Season 2 ending.

So much build up to a rushed ending. I thought it would be 12 episodes, but the 10 episode curse strikes again. 2 more episodes would have at least fleshed it out a bit more, and given Gaz a good way to be killed, as that was anti-climatic. The guy was supposed to be a near all powerful being that kept the world at constant war for centuries, allowed himself to be killed, had a sentient gundo that was incredibly powerful made, had who knows how many Chaika's made in order to gather his remains, and he is killed off like that? Kind of lame really.

And what memories did Chaika use to shoot Gaz with? Some clarification would have been nice. At least she gave her father the funeral she always wanted to give him. Not necessarily the way she originally intended, but she got her wish nonetheless. And our heroes, including the Red Chaika and her companions now live in peace. A really rushed ending to an otherwise entertaining series. 7/10. Deducted for the last episode mainly.

In other news, just saw a PV for Death Parade, which airs next season, and while I didn't know anything about this other than it being animated by Madhouse, I'm now really excited for this. Basically, this is a full-length series inspired by, or rather a spiritual sequel to, Death Billiards, which I really liked. Gonna be cool to see if they can actually extend that tension and everything to a full 12 (I assume) episodes, or if maybe it'll just drop off a bit too much towards the middle of it.
