It seems the QB's at the heart of everything where football is concerned. |

Yeah. To have any hope of a championship, a team needs a quarterback they can trust and build around him. If a team doesn't have that guy, they'll never be any better than average. |

He sure has taken a beating, some of it's deserved, and some of it isn't but at the end of the day as fun as it was sometimes with Rex as coach, he didn't get the job done and he joint the rest of the Jets coaches (which includes Hall of Famer Bill Parcells) as coaches who couldn't get the job done. |

What are you looking for in a good QB (this is for all of you, not just Beastman)? |

Anyone who can semi-regularly complete 60% of his passes and throw more touchdowns than interceptions, which I would probably say is league average. I'm a very desperate Jets fan....

Main thing I look for is a guy who is fearless. The type who can handle pressure and not get rattled or throw bad passes just because a defender happens to be closing in on him. He doesn't have to have the strongest arm or pinpoint accuracy, he just has to be someone you can depend on when in a bad situation. Edited by Shadow Dragon, Oct 28 2014, 01:01 PM.

Intangibles are very important, guys like Flacco and Eli Manning might not put up the gaudy numbers, but the guys are legit leaders of men who have won numerous road playoff wins en-route to Super Bowl victories and MVP's. Also last night as the dust settled on an atrocious loss in what's now a 1-7 season, I couldn't help but muse over how close the Jets were in 2009 and 2010. It's hard to believe that Sanchez, the guy who led the team to FOUR road playoff wins (two against Brady and Manning) fell off a damn cliff after the 2011 season. I mean, the guy threw BOMBS in both AFC championship games, the one in Pittsburgh I still submit is the greatest throw a Jets QB has ever made: 50+ yards on the move to Santonio Holmes on a broken route right after the half that got the Jets back in that game. He played well in all of those post season wins (and even the 2 AFC title losses) he was the reason the team won, he did not simply "manage the game". The guy seemed to have all the intangibles too: California Cool, great in the locker room, clutch comeback drives. I dunno what happened, but I put the blame on Rex and then GM Mike Tannenbaum basically degrading that offense after the run in 2010. Offensive line took a huge hit, skill positions dried up, and Sanchez had no shot. This is why I want Rex gone. At some point, the guy has to be held accountable for having a completely myopic view of the game. He's a defensive coordinator not a head coach. I don't care how hard the team plays for him, they're undisciplined and poorly prepared. A change is needed. Edited by beastman721, Oct 28 2014, 10:05 PM.

And the Saints take control of the NFC South with a 4-4 record. That division could end up being won by an 8-8 team. It's just horrible this year. |

^ Yup, though I don't think anything will trump the 2010 NFC West, Seahawks won that with a 7-9 record and stunned New Orleans in the Wild Card. |

I know the Jets really suck, but man this team can't catch a frickin' break. Anthony Fasano just scored a touchdown when he was flat on his ass. He got knocked down, then Alex Smith's pass was deflected right into his arms, gets up untouched and breaks the ball through the plane. I mean, you can't make this up. |

Don't mean to rub salt in the wound but it's worth pointing out: Mark Sanchez 17-22, 202 yards, 2 TDs. He's not going to be taking Foles' starting job anytime soon but it does go to show that Sanchez was able to play well when he has good receivers and a good play caller to work with. |
