Well... To be honest, I don't think there's much to say about this if you've already seen the first season. It retains what makes it such an awesome series, but at the same time, I think it lost some of its charm. In short, this second season is just like the later episodes of the first season, and as such, if you liked the first, you'll like this. So what do I mean by "lost its charm"? Well, you know how in the first season they pull off all those badass things (jumping with the boat, for example), well, in the second season stuff like that felt really toned down. That's not to say that there aren't tons of awesome scenes (I mean, Revy herself raises the amount of awesomeness pretty high), but it doesn't really have the same feel to it. As opposed to "WOAH, DID YOU SEE DID?!", it's more like a "Dayum, did this just happen?". It's a subtle difference, but definitely a noticable one. One perfect example of this is basically the entire first arc which, in short, is simply fucked up. Speaking of arcs, this time they decided that each arc should (seemingly) be 3 episodes each. This was a step up from the first seasons 2 episodes per arc, and it further allows everything to develop nicely. However, instead of 4 arcs (which you'd assume there'd be), there are only 3 arcs, as the final arc consist of 6 entire episodes! It was really well done (imo), and I really liked the ending as well. To top it off, we got to see a lot more of Eda in this season (which may or may not be good, depending on what your thoughts on her were to begin with), there was some backstory for Balalaika, some character development (kinda) for Rock, and finally some very vague hints at the "romance subplot", if you could even call it that. There's no real ending this time either, as it just sets up for the 3rd season, so I'll guess we'll see about that some time in the future... |

After watching the second season, I have to agree with Savepoint. It's still really good but it doesn't pack the same punch as the first season. Also, I kinda missed Dutch and Benny, since they seemed to get push to the side for a good chunk of season 2. It'd be great if Dutch got to be the focus of a future OVA. I hope Toonami picked up the Roberta's Blood Trail ova and plays it.
