While food shopping the other day, I ran into the mother of an old friend of mine. We traded pleasantries, talked for a few minutes, etc... It did make me think back though, would I go back to 'high school' years if I could. Now obviously, remove the "I'd make a killing with the lottery, etc" type of thing. As another part to this, I know many of you may be in high school or just starting college. So I guess if you had the chance to relive parts of your life, would you? There was something so much simpler and easier about yesteryear. No worrying about being a 'grown up' so to speak. There's a lot to be said for how much simpler life was. I feel I didn't appreciate all I should have as a kid...and I feel my insecurities that I once held are pretty silly today. The funny thing is I'm not sure how much 'better' my life would be today without that knowledge. I feel I'm in a pretty good place today. Part of that feeling comes from the journey I've taken. I may just be rambling trying to kill time. The office is completely dead today and I have a half day so *shrug* Do you ever miss your youth so much you'd go back to relive it? |

I'm part of that group who's currently in high school (secondary upper high school, actually...), but there's one thing that I've kinda thought about... My parents are separated, and when I was around 7 or something, I got to choose who I wanted to live with, because my sister wanted to move to my mom (we'd both been living with our dad up to that point). At that time, I chose to go with her, and live with my mom, and it's often been something I felt regret over. My mom has severe anger issues, she's incredibly lazy, and I mean, without going into way too much detail, she's what, at least I, would call a bad mom in general. I guess when I was 7, this wasn't something that crossed my mind. At the same time, my dad is a great guy, and he's always been. So the point is that sometimes I've thought "I should've chosen to stay with my dad" back then, because in many ways, my life would likely be the same, aside from the fact that I didn't have to put up with my mom for 11 more years (then again, can't know for sure). However, nowadays I'd say the "counterargument" greatly outweighs the supposed "benefits". I have a small group of really good friends, through which I basically met my current gf. That's not to say I wouldn't have friends or a gf if I lived with my dad, but it would surely be very different, and in the end, asking "would I go back in time?" (when we're talking about going that far back, and changing such big things) I feel is the same thing as asking "do I want to replace all that I have now?". So if we're not talking about winning the lottery or patenting some plan to make a shitload of money, I guess no. |

if I could go back, knowing what I know now, I probably would. If I didn't know what I know now then hell no. |

No way, you can't look back, something might be gaining on you. Edited by beastman721, Dec 24 2014, 11:04 PM.

I don't miss my childhood as much as I used to, and there is no way in Hades that I am going to miss my adolescence. Tbh, I'm pretty happy where I am right now.
